Star Wars “Celebration III”

Ok, so after a moment of insanity, it was decided (by myself) to take a break from working so hard. So I did what I do best and looked up rumors on-line. George Lucas was apparently at this Star Wars “Celebration III” thing which I can only imagine was a Star War convention with a nifty name (come to think of it on CNN.com earlier this week they mentioned that a Star Wars convention had thousands in attending…so that must be this! That’s using my brain!).

George Lucas was there and he dropped some interesting details about the world of Star Wars.

The following comes from Comingsoon.net:

“Star Wars” creator/writer/director George Lucas made his guest appearance at “Celebration III” this morning at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis and he talked about the franchise. About 9,000 fans had been lined up since midnight for a chance to see Lucas talk.

The event was hosted by actor Jay Laga’aia, who played Captain Typho in “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith,” though Lucas funnily made a mistake saying he thought Laga’aia played a Clone Trooper.

Lucas confirmed that they are working on two TV series. One will be a half hour 3-D computer animated series and the other is a live action series. The live action series will star some of the characters featured in the movies, though not the main characters. Lucas will kick-off the series himself. They are planning on writing the entire first season and then shooting Season One all at once. He mentioned Lucasfilm is aiming for a production start in about a year.

Also, George Lucas said that the “Star Tours” thrill ride at Disney-MGM Studios will be getting an overhaul soon. And he confirmed they are working on bringing the early 90’s TV series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles to DVD as well.

Interesting. I’ve been very hesitant about the prospects of a Star Wars television series. I don’t think it would be taken as seriously as the films and I think that the Star Wars franchise should be kept as just a film series. (I want Episodes VII, VII, and IX dammit!)

“Star-Tours” was my favorite ride at those Orlando amusment parks (right along on the same level as Jaws the ride).

Hopefully they don’t fuck up Star Wars with a television series.

Nice to see that they are going to put The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles on DVD. I was too young to even give a shit about this series. It wasn’t like the movies (because obviously he was younger) and it came on way too late for me (I think it was on around 8 or 9 at night back when I was in elementary school). Besides my parents didn’t like it, they thought it was boring, and they also thought the kid that was playing Indy was just trying to act like River Phenix (sp) (who just so happened to play the young Indy in The Last Crusade).
