Yet another reason why I am glad I will not be returning to the dorms this coming semester

Just add this to the bunch of other reasons why I am happy that I have moved on from campus life. Don’t get me wrong, there is still a handful of people that I will miss, they know who they are and I will keep in touch with them.

I recieved this letter via e-mail and I was disgusted, this is the second time in less then two years that they have found something like this:

Florham Information

Do Not Drink Any Water on Campus! Boil Any Water Before Using It.

On July 15th, one of the five sites tested on campus for water purity came up negative. Fecal coliform [or E.coli] bacteria were found in the water supply. Therefore, until this situation is resolved, all do not drink any water without boiling it first. Boiled or bottle water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice.

The water is being retested today and we believe that the situation will be resolved soon. If you have questions, call the ProvostÒ€ℒs Office, 973-443-8081.

Fecal coliform…E.Coli, give me a fucking break! There are people who are living there now. This is just fucking nasty!

Here is the update from Fairleigh:

Fecal coliforms and E. coli are bacteria whose presence indicates that the water may be contaminated with human or animal wastes. Microbes in these wastes can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms. They may pose a special health risk to infants, young children, and people with severely compromised immune systems.

The symptoms above are not caused ONLY by organisms in drinking water.

If you experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you may want to seek medical advice. People at increased risk are encouraged to seek advice about drinking water form their health care providers.

Bacterial contamination can occur when increased run-off enters the drinking water source (for example, following heavy rains). It can also happen due to a break in the distribution system (pipes) or a failure in the water treatment process.

It makes me sick to my stomach thinking that not over two months ago were we drinking, bathing, brushing our teeth and even washing our face in this SHIT, fucking fix the problem and fast. They make enough money off of us and they still ask us alumni for money EVEN THOUGH WE ARE STILL PAYING FOR THE LOANS! Fuckers. I’m happy I will only be returning for classes and it will only be for one night a week.

I feel so fucking dirty right now.

Okay so yea yea you are out of the dorms, living it up, nice place, with your girlfriend, barely any classes, having fun, those you are happy not to be seeing next year do not know you are even taking classes…blah blah blah! Let me tell you that I have to live there next year! Making fun of the water, pshh…that is all I can say! Although, I do not know what you are talking about with something like this within the past 2 years, what does that mean I dont remember hearing anything like that before! Tell me before I go back please!

Anyways, aside from that πŸ˜€ I just wanted to thank you for all of your kindness Marcos. You have no idea how much your kind words, thoughts, and actions mean. I will really miss you so much next year, and now that I know you will not be sticking around on campus I am sure it will be hard to get to see you. But thank you for the other day, and the last year. Good luck to you with everything you deserve wonderful things and I am glad to see that you are getting some of them now πŸ™‚

It was during my second summer training (in 03) that they had all of the RA’s put up signs about how they tested the water and found one of the tests came back with something bad, I forgot what it was, it wasn’t e.coli or anything like that that I can remember.

Stacey, it was good seeing you last thursday because I felt so lost among some of the people that I never felt were friendly towards me. Most of them probaby could have cared less that I was there let alone was a fellow RA for four years. Please try to stay in contact, e-mail me: socramforever@yahoo.com
I’m always around, and if you need anything just e-mail or IM me.

Okay – so I guess that you are right, and you should be happy that you arent on campus next year haha. Just make sure that the apt. that you are in did the water testing that they were supposed to do!

It is funny that you wrote that second part because I reread it because I was wondering why what I wrote was in yours, because it was what I was thinking but didnt write. And I understand what you meant, and they might not miss you but I will. I most certainly will keep in touch, you are one of a kind. I put your email in my address book so I will have it πŸ™‚ (mine is StaceyR@student.fdu.edu)

I hear that you are going away soon…HAVE FUN! Where exactly are you going and for how long and why and I want the details!

Stacey, its literally like you, and like four or five other people that have told me that they’ll miss me this coming year and its you and those four or five that I will miss dearly. It was you handful of people that made my last year as an RA a good one–a better year than I could have hoped from the office of residence life. You, Deanne, Breanne, Edith have are some of the ones that I will miss and that I will try and keep in touch with along with some other people that know who they are.

StaceyR? what does the R stand for?

I’m going to Mexico…and I’ll be updating my blog with when and where (and the new where because of Hurricane Emily) either tonight or tomorrow.

I’ll e-mail you my cell phone number in case you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to call.

Oh Mexico! Why are you going there? Is there a reason that you chose that place? And where in Mexico?

It is sad how when people move on there are so many people that they know, and yet so few that they truely connect. It is sad, but I suppose a way of life and a good way to show those who truly are special to you and why.

StaceyR, that is for Stacey Rose, which is my middle name. Oh I even have a story for you on that one. So when I was in middle school, I decided that I hated my last name Leibowitz. It was long, and sounded stupid. So what I did was, I dropped it. Thats right I dropped it! Okay – so it isnt that exciting but whatever. So on all of my tests and papers and everything I just wrote Stacey Rose because I thought that it sounded better. Which is does. But then with the whole new school, and standardized scantron tests I had to gain back my last name and drop my middle. So that is my story.

  6. socramforever says:

Stacey Rose, that’s a nice name, but Leibowitz isn’t bad, it defines you as who you are. To me you are Stacey Leibowitz and that’s how I’ll always know you. Stacey Rose is also a cool name, maybe one day I’ll use it as a name for a character in one of my scripts–that is if you don’t mind. (Bastard scantrons for not allowing you to keep you new name!)

Summer vacation, Melissa and I and her family are going there, August 3-10, yay! Should be fun.

Hey, I joined Myspace a few days ago, if you’re on it look me up or something. I joined out of sheer bordom at work, everyone here is like 24 and younger and they are all on it. So I joined. YAY for me.

Heh…am still getting those emails too. I know someone living on campus now too, I hope she’s not sick or anything.

Marcos…when you leave for Mexico, it’ll be like you’re living in the dorms. Don’t drink the water. πŸ˜‰

Hey I knew a Stacy at FDU, not sure if you’re the same person or not, though…I’m Mike, was James Kiss’s roommate. Hi.

Am probably going to visit FDU soon, gotta bug Niki. πŸ™‚

Stacy Lebowitz, she was an RA (still is)

seriously Mexico is the same damn thing. I’ve been lucky for two years going to mexico with no problems, knock on wood it doesn’t happen again.

I didn’t quiet understand this part: “I’m Mike, was James Kiss’s roommate. Hi.

Am probably going to visit FDU soon, gotta bug Niki. :)” I was kind of confused.

  9. flammable says:

Heh…that quote was meant for Stacy. See, she came in a lot and I wasn’t sure if she was the same Stacy or not.

Wow, you’ve been to Mexico before? Very cool…what are you going to do there?

  10. socramforever says:

Ohh! I see, that makes more sense. Haha.

Yeah, I’ve been to Mexico twice before, its so nice. The water is so freaking hot. I’m probably going to be tanning most of the time while there.

  11. socramforever says:

I would love to go to the Mayan ruins more, but its too damn hot and its just not as fun when you can’t take the heat. I have some pics from last year from our quick trip to a ruins site. If you want I can post them later when I come back from work.
