While he was in Paris promoting the French release of his new movie, “Red Eye”, Ecran Large got to meet with Wes Craven and asked him about the recent developments regarding a fourth Scream. He’s his response:

“I had a lunch with Neve [Campbell] where she told me Dimension Film offered her to reprise her role in Scream 4. I was totally surprised because nobody has ever mentioned such a project to me. But as far as I’m concerned, I don’t think it would be a wise decision to do a 4th Scream. First because I think everything has already been told within the first three movies and I don’t want to make the one more that would be the wrong one. And second because Dimension won’t really be interested in contacting me right now just after the troubles we had on Cursed.”

Absolutely right! Don’t do it. Now that the Weinstein Bros are no longer in charge of either Miramax (which was the parent company to Dimensions) Disney (Miramax’s parent company–confused?) will probably bastardize most of its libraries much like they’ve done to their own animated library. I mean, they’ll probably try and come up with a direct to home video sequel and prequel to Shakespear in Love or something like that. Good ole Disney, fucking things up yet again. That’s why we in the film industry like to call them the evil empire.
