Friend’s to reunite?

I don’t know about this one, while looking through Scott Keith’s Blog of Doom I came across this, I don’t know if its true or not because it didn’t give a link to see where it came from (it did however have “from the inbox” meaning someone e-mailed it to him. Check it out and tell me what you think:

Friends returning?

Cast to reunite for four one-hour long specials…

Friends returning to the air?

They haven’t been “there for” us for a couple of years now, but that gaping hole that was left by the demise of TV’s “Friends” is about to plugged up again.According to Fox News, everyone’s favourite bunch of Villagers – Ross,Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey and Chandler – are reuniting for a series of one-hour episodes.
In a secret meeting before Christmas, the stars of the show all agreed to front up for four one-hour specials. The only one that was apparently a little reluctant was Jennifer Aniston, who seemingly has the best – though canoodling with ageing Kevin Costner wouldn’t be that much of a climb, surely? – film
career of late (not that it means much).

The four episodes are apparently going to air sometime this year. Meantime, NBC is apparently looking to retool the show’s struggling spin-off “Joey”.

The new idea involves re-teaming star Matt LeBlanc with two of his “Friends” co-stars – Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer. The show is called “It’s a Guy Thing”.

While that idea sounds rather far-fetched – especially because Perry’s character, Chandler, is happily married to Monica, and Courteney Cox is apparently not involved in the show at all – there might be something to this. Just a couple of months ago, Perry knocked back a rather juicy offer to headline
Aaron Sorkin’s highly anticipated new series “Studio 7 on the Sunset Strip”. Perry is also believed to have knocked back an offer to become a regular on “The West Wing”.

While I understand the need to revamp the Joey Show, I don’t however know if making specials would be a smart thing. At least not just yet, if ever. I’ve always hated seeing half hour comedies turned into hour long or two hour long movies that really destroy the nature of the original series. I say its dead, leave it in peace. Kind of like with Indiana Jones 4, why bring it back.

Do I think this is real? Not really. But would they make a shit load of money? Hell yes. Would I want to see it, probably not. I’ll wait till in about twenty thirty years they hire six actors that are like 20-25 years old (that I won’t even know about because I’ll be like over forty or fifty years old) to act in a really shitty version of the movie and they’ll bring back that fucking “I’ll be there for you” theme song and blast it all over the television stations as comercials.

Tell me what you think.

This can’t be real…but you’re right, people would watch it and they’d make bags and bags of money.

Maybe in 30 years, they’d make a movie of all of them reuniting (with the original actors/actresses), sort of like they did for the Brady Bunch.

I still wouldn’t watch it either, though.

neither would I…I watched the series first three seasons and would only watch every now and then, like for the season finales and for the series finale, I never got back into it. I didn’t really care much for it. It wasn’t Seinfeld which was great!
