Gary Oldman is now officially in negotiations to reprise his role as Sirius Black for Warner Bros. Pictures’ fifth “Harry Potter” installment, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” reports Reuters.

When principal photography on the David Yates-helmed movie started last week, negotiations with Oldman had not begun which led to speculation that Oldman would not be returning and the part would have to be recast.

“We’re not shooting his part for quite a while, and as is always the case, you begin with the parts that are most pressing. We have every intention of having Gary Oldman play Sirius Black” says “Potter” producer David Heyman.

Since the villain character of Dr. Octopus figures prominently in the doomed Stacy family storyline in the comic book series – there’s been some speculation that “Spider-Man 2” baddie Alfred Molina would return as Doc Ock in some capacity in the third film.

Molina however dismissed such talk, saying “I’m not in number three. The studio has an option on me for [parts] three and four, should they choose to use it, but who knows. I would certainly be up for it; I had a great time. But I don’t think so. I think I died” Molina told Now Playing Magazine.

Molina acknowledges thought that no-one ever really dies in comic book movies, producer Avi Arad once telling Molina that “In this universe you don’t die, you just disappear”.

Singer On “Superman” Budget & Reshoots

During interviews at this past weekend’s WonderCon, “Superman Returns” director Bryan Singer has denied rumors that the film’s budget has gone over $250 million or talk of extensive reshoots.

“There’s some idiot [who] wrote somewhere that the movie was $250 million, which is the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard. I’ll tell you exactly: The movie was budgeted at $184.5 million and will probably climb with visual effects and variables that occur in a movie of this magnitude, with 1,400 visual effects, etc., to somewhere still south of $200 million. Which is still a great deal of money, but it is by no means … what was published in that” said the director.

As for the extensive reshoot talk? “There were none. We’re probably going to do one day of pickup in Los Angeles, but there was none. What I did was I switched my schedule. I had shot for about 105 or 107 days. Originally, I was going to shoot for 128 days, 130 days, And instead, I stopped. I decided, because I was so exhausted and the process was so long, I was starting to lose my objectivity. So I shortened the schedule and stopped shooting after … what I believe was 107 days. And then came back to Los Angeles for about three and a half weeks, and then went back and finished the schedule in Sydney”.
