Last House remake

I heard that when this came out it was one of the most controversial movies ever made and that Wes Craven was the one that made it and it was banned for a long time. This article just established everything I said:

Rogue Pictures has closed a deal to remake “The Last House on the Left,” the controversial 1972 horror film that was banned for much of the last twenty years in the UK and jump started Wes Craven’s career reports Variety.

The original followed a pair of adventurous teen girls who are kidnapped, raped and murdered by a gang of thugs. The killers unwittingly hole up in the home of one victim’s parents, who, upon realizing what their guests did, devise gruesome revenge.

Craven, who wrote and directed the original, will produce the remake which is eyeing an early 2007 start date. This follows in the success of this year’s “The Hills Have Eyes”, a similar early Craven effort that got the remake treatment.

Craven also confirms that new versions of his 1989 flick “Shocker” and 1991’s “People Under the Stairs” are also in the works.

I don’t mind them remaking Wes Craven’s movies, as long as he’s ok with it and as long as they don’t remake A Nightmare on Elms Street, because that should never be touched…ever!

Very interesting…to see what both he and others can do with his earlier works. I like the idea of remakes if they turn out to be better than the original…particularly if the original author has something to do with the process.

I think if the original person is in on it it makes it weird, like why are you messing with you’re own stuff. But with Wes Craven, I guess if he’s doing it, its ok. Wes Craven is the man. But like I said, just don’t redo Nightmare on Elms street. I guess it also has to do with money. They can all make a mess load of money off of the remakes if properly done.

Oh, of course…including making Freddie Krueger a household name again. Then movies like Freddie vs. Jason would make more sense to the younger crowd.

LOL I bet you already know the answer to that one.

    (that’s a nope)

It’s sad, I can’t remember the last movie I’ve seen. One of these days, I’m going to see Snakes on a Plane.

BTW, not related (except for the article title, and the icon), but I saw House for the first time tonight. And it’s pretty awesome. I like it, I gotta find some more of that.

And I’m at Fairleigh Dickinson! Why, I don’t know. But I’m here until Tuesday, so if you’re randomly coming to campus, you should totally visit. Otherwise, I’ll find a way to visit you another time…it’s strange, I haven’t actually seen you in person for what, over a year? And we talk all the time, LOL.

whoa! what day was this…man, that was like two weeks ago…dammit! great that you saw House finally…how did you get around to watching it, was it an accident or did you mean to see it.

Why were you at Fairleigh? I try to stay away from there, I’ve been on campus like once since last year and it freaked me out.

Yeah, you’re right we haven’t seen each other since school ended in 05 so over a year now. But we still talk and aside from pics on myspace and stuff haven’t really seen each other.

I don’t know if I’d even go see that…maybe if its on HBO or something…

oh did I tell you I saw the last 15 minutes of Fantastic Four and let me tell you that I’m happy I didn’t waste my time on the whole movie…

  8. flammable says:

Yeah, it’s really crazy. To think that kind of thing wouldn’t have been possible a few years ago.

I go visit, sometimes, to see people…it’s about 20 minutes from my dad’s office, so I sometimes convince him to let me tag along and drop me off on the way to work. He usually won’t do it, so I stay for a weekend or a little more (this time, it was about almost a week!). Pretty cool that public safety doesn’t notice. If you look like you know what you’re doing, they don’t ask questions. šŸ˜€

Niki, that girl I knew down the hall when I moved to Florence, is an RA now…so she lets me crash in her spare bed. I generally make myself useful and repair her computer, or something. Same old FDU, mostly…what freaks you out?

I agreed to watch House because everyone else was doing it, and I was spending too much time online…heh. It’s good, that surprised me!

terrible. horrible. I was so upset that I even sat there and watched it. Bad acting. Stupid story. I just didn’t like it at all.

  10. flammable says:

Awwww….definitely lemme know when you guys go to do that. I might be able to hitch a ride.

I was just at FDU this past weekend. I got lost in New York for the whole day, then just hung around campus for the next day or two.

I think Public Safety is starting to recognize me.

I know! There aren’t that many movies where the first movie was really really bad and they made a good sequel. Usually the first movie is good, and they make the sequel better (or horribly worse…I guess its a double edge sword, if its good the first time around, don’t expect it to get much better the second time around…if it sucks the first time, it’s already been tainted…).

  12. socramforever says:

its the guy that we never see accept on weekends…sounds like at least a quarter of the population on campus…kind of sounds like you during your tenior there too…

  13. flammable says:

    Pretty sure I did.

If I didn’t, then maybe I should talk to my professors about all of this class I’m missing. šŸ™‚
