Rick O’Connell, the Foreign Legion soldier turned action hero character which Brendan Fraser played in “The Mummy” movies, is getting a new film all his own reports Production Weekly.

Fraser is set to reprise the role in a new epic adventure that re-imagines the character in a different setting. “Smallville” creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have penned the script.

Joe Johnston will direct the film which aims to begin shooting early 2007.

Interesting. I hope that they signed Brendan Fraser for two movies like they did Hugh Jackman for X3 and Wolverine. That would rule all. Joe Johnston seems to be the guy that just picks up franchises (he did the same for Jurassic Park III.

A little bit, on TV…not the entire films.

I got to see the beginning of Jurassic Park III, oh man…that sucked so badly. The dude who was in the first one (and probably the second) was asked to give William H. Macy and his wife a tour of Jurassic Park…and the dude’s like ‘no, it’s too dangerous’ and then gets talked into it.

Surprise! They get stuck on the island WITH LIVING DINOSAURS.

yeah, and it was a crappy scenerio that caused them to get back onto the island. made no sense whatsoever. But the dinos were cool. but not good enough and it didn’t have the feel of the first two movies.

I also felt that once the dinosaurs ate the guys that we didn’t know they weren’t going to eat anyone else so what was the point of the rest of the movie?
