Out doing promotions for “The Good German”, Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney talked about their reasons for wanting to make another sequel to their heist hit “Ocean’s Eleven”.

“’13’ happened because we thought we could do it better than ’12’ and we didn’t want to go out getting socked in the chin on one” Clooney told Comingsoon.Net.

He added “We were both like, ‘We both know how to do this.’ And we found a really good reason to do it, which is revenge, which I think is just such a good motivator after you’ve had these guys make a lot of money. What are you going to do? ‘Let’s make some more money’? This was just about getting somebody who wasn’t one of our guys. I always love films like that. That made sense to us and that seemed like a good reason to do it. There doesn’t seem to be any other reason to come back. And it’s back to ’11’ in terms of spending more time with the guys.”

When an interviewer mentioned to Soderbergh that this didn’t have to be the last film in the series, he said “Yeah, it does”. He added “It was kind of sad near the end of it to go, ‘Well, this is the last time I’m going to see these people in a room. I really like them all and they really like each other, and there was a very strong sense that we were really lucky that these movies came about and we were able to do them and this was it. At the end of it, there was a real sense of passage and wondering for me whether I’ll ever find another commercial movie to make”.

“Ocean’s 13” is scheduled to hit theatres on June 8th 2007.

That’s fine. I’m sure there are some people out there that think it should have ended at Ocean’s 11. I liked the first one, I never got through the second one, I will one day. I’ll probably see the third one, but I don’t think it could top part one. Just my opinion…and that’s not because Celine Dion is apparently going to be in it…

  1. I’m quietly crying in my room. Not over the Celine comment–over how this is the last one…Maybe if this is a success, they’ll do another. If Scary Movie can have 4, Ocean’s 14 can happen 🙂 ~Evkoz

  2. lol! yeah, its going to need it…now the real question is, between Indy IV and Ocean’s 14, which of the two do you think the world really needs to see?

  3. Yeah, I don’t really have a good answer for you there. Both should be hidden from the world, in a vault of some sort. BUT NOT MINE. 🙂
