Bruce Willis upset that Die Hard sequel will be PG-13

Forget Bruce Willis! I’m pissed that that’s a possibility. That may mean the difference between me seeing Die Hard or me seeing Transformers on the July 4th weekend!

Willis Upset “Die Hard” Goes PG-13?

image AICN reports that In an upcoming interview in Vanity Fair, Bruce Willis expressed initial disappointment that his fourth “Die Hard” film will likely be cut to get a PG-13 rating rather than the usual R for the rest of the series.

“I really wanted this one to live up to the promise of the first one, which I always thought was the only really good one” said Willis.

So why cut it? “That’s a studio decision that is becoming more and more common, because they’re trying to reach a broader audience. It seems almost a courageous move to give a picture an R rating these days. But we still made a pretty hardcore, smashmouth film.”

On the one hand the rating sounds reasonable – after all its opening on the July 4th weekend and the PG-13 opens it up to the teen audience that’ll be out in force that weekend.

On the other the major appeal of the “Die Hard” franchise lies for those born in the 70’s and 80’s – people old enough to get into an R-rated film anyhow. Is there a point in delivering a potentially substandard sequel to appeal to a market which has little interest in the adventures of John McClane?

This just really pisses me off. Fox should have fn’ing learned from the Alien vs Predator debacle that happened. The movie sucked. It was PG-13 and that made a lot of people upset that their franchises were being shit on. Now I feel that this one is being shit on and I don’t like it!

Wow, that really sucks. Bruce Willis’s career is also on the line here…I’d be pissed if I were him, too.

Sorry, dude. I hope Indy IV doesn’t get this sort of treatment…
