Hancock teaser trailer (and poster!)

Something tells me that I didn’t post this when I first saw it, it has been a rough couple of months mind you. But let me tell you, this is one of those movies that kind of crept up on me and I hope it lives up to this teaser trailer. Its one of the movies I’m most looking forward too this summer.

Plot synopsis from Comingsoon.net:
There are heroes… there are superheroes… and then there’s Hancock (Will Smith). With great power comes great responsibility – everyone knows that – everyone, that is, but Hancock. Edgy, conflicted, sarcastic, and misunderstood, Hancock’s well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake. The public has finally had enough – as grateful as they are to have their local hero, the good citizens of Los Angeles are wondering what they ever did to deserve this guy. Hancock isn’t the kind of man who cares what other people think – until the day that he saves the life of PR executive Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), and the sardonic superhero begins to realize that he may have a vulnerable side after all. Facing that will be Hancock’s greatest challenge yet – and a task that may prove impossible as Ray’s wife, Mary (Charlize Theron), insists that he’s a lost cause.

It looks good, but I dunno…I just rewatched Men In Black (the first one), why can’t Will Smith movies be that good anymore?

  2. socramforever says:

Honestly, I didn’t like Men In Black. I don’t know why. Something always bothered me. Especially with Men In Black II. They just kind of didn’ do it for me at all. Although I did love the cartoon Men in Black. Yeah, I said it, I watched the cartoon. I don’t even know why I did, but it was what the movie should have been.

Really? I think MIB II was mediocre, but the first one was pretty fun.

I mean, not serious stuff – and I enjoyed The Pursuit of Happyness, so I guess I can appreciate his newer stuff.

I never saw Independence Day, so maybe all of those movies from back then are all the same, heh.

Independence Day was good. Some people still think so, I think that it had its time and kind of like a bunch of movies that I loved (like Batman Forever which I watched with Melissa while she was in the hospital this past weekend) just seemed to fit its time. Like, it was great for me when I was like 13 you know or 14.

Will Smith has had a bunch of great action movies, Bad Boys I and II (though I like 1 better), I Robot, Enemy of the State. Go on IMDB.com and check it out: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000226/

Funny I just went on to see what else he’s done and there is an article about him and how he was the highest paid actor earning 80 mil for last year.

  5. flammable says:

Holy crap, he’s being paid that much? Wow.

I’ve got Enemy of the State, should watch that. I’ve seen pieces, was good. I’ve seen I, Robot and that was pretty good.

Mindless action, but that’s alright sometimes.

As for the Batman movies, these new ones just blow the others away. Did you see The Dark Knight yet? Just saw it last night, oh man. If you liked Batman Begins, this one somehow kicks its ass.

  6. socramforever says:

I haven’t seen it yet. We’ve been sick. Which sucks. Even you’ve seen it. Dammit. We’re going very soon!

  7. flammable says:

    Hahahahahaha

Might even be seeing it again this weekend, take that!

No seriously, feel better soon. You gotta see this one.

  8. socramforever says:

Wow! That good that you’re paying to see it twice?

I’ve actually heard a lot of people going to see it twice.

  9. flammable says:

Ditto, I hear a lot about people seeing it twice too.

I’d be interested to hear what you think of it – I think I understood it fully, so I’m not seeing it again for a deeper understanding. More or less, I’d like to enjoy it again, it was that good.

  10. socramforever says:

I haven’t seen a movie twice in the theater since the first Pirates movie. I remember going all the time to see movies over and over. Some of them weren’t even that good.

I saw Independence Day four times, but the forth time was free because I saw after a sneak preview of another movie and I saw Volcano three times. Sick huh?

  11. flammable says:

    Wow. Was Volcano any good?

Rotten Tomatoes says “not so much.”

I guess you liked Independence Day then, eh?

Dammit, still gotta see the Pirates movies. You got me there!

  12. flammable says:

No, you win that one. I will, someday soon.

I’m thinking about rewatching Hellboy (in anticipation of seeing the new one), or maybe dragging my parents out to see WALL-E.

  13. socramforever says:

I just saw the first Hellboy the other day and liked it. I think the second one looks like it’ll blow away the first one.

I want to see Wall-E but I’ll probably wait on that one till it comes out on dvd.

  14. flammable says:

    The new Hellboy looks excellent!

By the time I get around to seeing WALL-E, it’ll probably be out of theaters. Bah.

  15. flammable says:

Seriously? It’s like they’re finally recognizing that most of their money comes from sales and rentals, not theater tickets (though they make a killing on those – you know that the high ticket prices are a direct result of the MPAA, right?).
