Angels & Demons

Its been a while, I noticed the last time I posted was on the 1st, and as the month continues I’m trying to get back here to post some blogs. I’m going to post something today before I go outside and pick up after last night thirty minute storm. I have a bunch of branches all over the place. I did promise pics of the house and I’m trying to put them on (I know, I know, its not that hard to do, but finding the time and the patients to wait for the computer to load them into the blog is what’s pretty much killing me at this point in time).

There have been some articles about the Angels & Demons (prequel to The Da Vinci Code) production that is currently underway right as we speak. Seeing that I really enjoyed both books by Dan Brown (in fact, I enjoyed all four books by him, and he continues to be the one author I have had the opportunity and pleasure of reading all of their novels and I impatiently await for whenever he write and publishes his next Robert Langdon (the main character from DaVinci and Demons) novel) I decided to post them. They’ll all be posted right here in one post on the blog.

I do have some other things I’d like to post, mostly little articles that I’ve been accumulating the last week or so off of Yahoo. But you’ll have to wait until I get time to do those.

Enjoy.

Ewan McGregor Joins “Angels & Demons”

Ayelet Zurer was locked in yesterday as the female lead, now Ewan McGregor is in talks to play a key character in Sony Pictures “The Da Vinci Code” prequel “Angels and Demons” says the trades.

Based on the Dan Brown novel, “Angels” sees Hanks reprising his role as symbologist professor Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) who tries to solve a murder and unravel a plot by the most powerful underground organization in history, the Illuminati, to wipe out Vatican City in a massive explosion during a papal conclave.

McGregor will play Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca, also known as Janus, the late pope’s closest aide who initially helps Langdon in the investigation. During a conclave (which can go for hours or days), the camerlengo is a young impartial priest who serves as the ‘defacto pope’ whilst the cardinals are locked in St. Peter’s Basilica to decide the next Pope.

Akiva Goldsman adapted the book, Ron Howard will direct and shooting is set to begin in June in Europe before heading to Los Angeles.

My mom will probably enjoy that addition. She loves him. She loved him as Obi-wan Kenobi and she loved him in The Island. I also think that he’s a damn good actor and should bring a lot to the character he’s going to be playing.

First “Angels & Demons” Photos

Filming has begun on “Angels and Demons”, Sony Pictrues follow-up to “The Da Vinci Code”, and the first set pics have gone online at la Repubblica.

Based on the Dan Brown novel, the film has Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) teaming with the beautiful and mysterious scientist Vittoria Vetra on a frantic race against the clock to stop both a bomb obliterating Vatican City during a papal enclave, and an assassin systematically wiping out the four favourite candidates for the new Pope.

The trip takes them through Rome’s sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals and the most secretive vault on earth… the long-forgotten Illuminati lair.

The good news is that Hanks does not have that often complained about long haircut from ‘Da Vinci’, instead opting for a slightly longer than usual but neatly trimmed short hairstyle.

Ayelet Zurer and Pierfrancesco Favino were also spotted during filming at the Piazza del Popolo, the church where Langdon finds the first abducted cardinal. Shooting was temporarily halted when Hanks sustained a hand injury.

looks good. I’m excited. And Ron Howard is again directing. So things should be good!

Vatican Denies “Angels” Filming

By Garth Franklin

The Vatican has officially denied Sony Pictures “Angels and Demons” the right to shoot inside any of Rome’s churches or from entering Vatican City says The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on the novel by Dan Brown (“The Da Vinci Code”), much of the film’s action has Professor Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) running around the streets and churches of Rome trying to stop four cardinals from being gruesomely killed, one every hour, by an Illuminati assassin.

Much of the film’s final act takes place within Vatican City and in the catacombs underneath St. Peter’s Basilica. The Vatican previously denied the production permission to shoot inside St. Peter’s itself.

The new denial stops plans to shoot at two other churches – Santa Maria del Popolo and Santa Maria della Vittoria – where scenes from the books take place.

Diocese of Rome spokesman father Marco Fibbi says “Traditionally, we read the script, but in this case that was not necessary. The name Dan Brown was enough.”

Sony had no comment on the decision. Filming began in Rome two weeks ago across various famous locales such as the Pantheon. Shooting this week moves to the former Royal Palace at Caserta, near Naples, which will double for the Vatican’s interiors.

The same thing happened to Mission: Impossible III, they had segment in the film that took place in The Vatican and they were denied access to it, they used another location and I’m sure people didn’t notice a difference, (but the biggest thing is: do many people know what the interior of The Vatican actually looks like?)

Looking good so far. Hope you enjoyed these.
