Brett Ratner denied his Guitar Hero movie…

Two days away and the world is going to crap! Hurricane Ike hit the Texas area hard, two big money giants have either called themselves bankrupt or got bought out, and 8 time Olympic Medal winner Michael Phelps was on Saturday Night Live…you do know that 2012 is coming really really fast right?

But, at least we can all depend on director Brett Ratner for a good laugh. I posted about this not too long ago, on August 29th to be exact (the post can be found here: http://socramforever.livejournal.com/471213.html), so consider this the update.

Ratner Denied “Guitar Hero” Movie

“Rush Hour” director Brett Ratner has been denied the chance to direct a film based on the “Guitar Hero” video game series.

Ratner tells Entertainment Weekly that “I’d really like to do it, but they’re not letting me… I expressed my interest, but because it’s such a success, it’s like now there’s no reason to make a movie about it…. The game is wish-fulfilling, everyone can be a rock star… I might prevail… I usually do.”

Ratner’s schedule remains busy however with a fourth “Beverly Hills Cop” and an adaptation of the video game “God of War”.

Notice I haven’t spoken too much (actually at all!) about Beverly Hills Cop 4? I don’t doubt that this will be better then the atrocious third installment that was clearly an early 90’s sequel. But I never really liked the Beverly Hills Cop movies. Really. I don’t know why. Perhaps I need to watch them again but I have always found Eddie Murphy to be annoying. His laugh irritates me. And the only times that I can tolerate him is when he doesn’t play himself.

When I get more word about BHC4 I’ll post it. I’ll probably even post the trailer. But as of right now, its another one of those franchises that came out in the 80’s (like Lethal Weapon, Rambo, Indiana Jones, Die Hard) that NEED a forth installment. Regardless of whether or not the last entry was that good or not.

You know how I feel about sequels: most of these are being made solely because the studios want to go with a “safe” idea, rather than something new.
