Pumpkin Update

Friday, August 14th, 2009

I posted earlier today on Cell Pic(s) of the Day about how on August 8th I took a pic of a pumpkin that is growing in our yard. We didn’t plant it, perhaps a bird dropped a seed of some kind or who knows. Anyway, you can view that original picture from last Saturday at the link above, but below are two pics I took of the pumpkin today and I think its gotten bigger:

“The Dark Path” is officially on IMDB

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Adam directed this short, which was a remake of another short he shot while in college, late last year. It is finally up on IMDB. Look for my credit as Executive Producer on the left hand side where it says “full cast and crew“.

Congrats to Evan for getting an actor credit on an IMDB page. Whoo!

Cell Pic(s) of the Day

Friday, August 14th, 2009

I was going through my cell phone pics the other day and I realized that I have taken at least one picture on my phone every day so far in August. It got me thinking that maybe I should start posting (at least one pic a day–starting tomorrow!) those pics. But today, maybe I’ll do a little bit of catching up and post the “chosen pics” of the day.

I must warn you, they are probably going to be mostly of Peanut and Cassie, but I’ll try not to just have them. And maybe, just maybe, there may be more then one on a given day.

Peanut pretending to be a chocolate rabbit, I guess he feels safe because Easter is over.

Not the greatest picture, but Melissa was cleaning out the fish tank and she placed our three remaining fish in this container and I realized that we had three imprisoned Kryptonians in it. General Zod is the pale one, Non is the catfish and Ursa is the neon (which you can’t really see too well in this pic) Welcome to the Phantom Zone people!

and just in case you need a reference pic:

Godzilla Reborn?

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Here is one I didn’t think I’d see, or even think I want to see. I mean, the one by Roland Emmerich was pretty bad, and the Japanese company that produced the movies even went on to make a few more films after the 1998 American film came out (I think they even had a character say that something surfaced in NYC and that they thought it was Godzilla, but it wasn’t–a nice knock on a stupid movie), and I think they even retired the character for a little bit.

So, why the insistence on bringing back this character? Why not? Hollywood has been so lazy recently that I’m surprised a movie based on Tetris or Pong isn’t in the works. I mean, I’m full of ideas and fully capable of writing a script.  I went to school for film, I’m currently writing a few scripts, a few original ideas, why don’t they come knocking on my door?

Ohh look! I scared them away. My stories aren’t backed by an already existing franchise…sigh…I guess I’ll just keep writing…

Although, I do think a game based on Frogger would do well… :P

Godzilla Reborn!
by Clint Morris (Thursday, August 13th, 2009 at 9:29 pm )

There’s a fire-breathing monster headed towards Hollywood and Vine… and it ain’t a Weinstein.

Bloody Disgusting reports that a new “Godzilla” picture is in the works. Legendary Pictures, the crowd behind superhero jaunts “Watchmen” and ‘The Dark Knight”, are reportedly behind the Jurassic creature’s Tinseltown resurgence. There’s no other details at this stage.

The last time Hollywood tackled the Japanese Lizard things didn’t work out so well. 1998’s “Godzilla”, starring Matthew Broderick, and directed by Roland Emmerich, wasn’t just slammed by fans, it was a box office disappointment to boot. Tri Star had originally hoped it’d be the first chapter in a new franchise (hence the final sequence of the first film – with Godzilla’s eggs hatching at Madison Square Gardens).

More on this as it comes to hand…

Superman gives DC/Warner Bros. some bad news

Friday, August 14th, 2009

I had heard a while back that the families of the two men who created Superman were taking Warner Bros. and DC comics to court over the rights to the Superman property. I honestly didn’t think the courts would have favored the creators, especially in this day and age where the ones with the money usually control the outcome.

From Darkhorizons.com:

Siegel Grabs Some “Superman” Rights

By Garth Franklin Friday August 14th 2009 07:55AM
Siegel Grabs Some "Superman" RightsIn a court ruling on Wednesday, the family of “Superman” co-creator Jerry Siegel has “successfully recaptured” rights to the first two weeks of the daily Superman newspaper comic-strips, as well as portions of early Action Comics and Superman comic-books says Variety.

The ruling means that the Siegels effectively now control depictions of Superman’s origins from the planet Krypton, his parents Jor-El and Lora, Superman as the infant Kal-El, the launching of the infant Superman into space by his parents as Krypton explodes and his landing on Earth in a fiery crash.

DC retains control of other elements like Superman’s ability to fly, the term kryptonite, the Lex Luthor and Jimmy Olsen characters, Superman’s powers and expanded origins. As of 2013, the estates of Siegel and fellow co-creator Joel Schuster will own the entire copyright to Action Comics No. 1 which allows them to take the property to another studio. Thus if Warners and DC want to do another project with the Man of Steel in any capacity, it must head into production by 2011.
