Steve Carell Leaving ‘The Office’?

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

Cos

While I have a moment this morning, I saw this off of eoline.com yesterday and just wanted to comment on it.

Melissa and I have been fans of ‘The Office’ for about three years now, we started getting the series on netflix over the summer three years ago and we’ve seen ever episode. I know that Steve Carell has a lot on his plate (he has three movies that are coming out this year–well, one came out already) and it just makes sense for him to move into full blown film-dom, but I just don’t see how the series could continue without him. I mean, they’ll have to kill off his Michael Scott character. That character is devoted to Dunder-Mifflin. I can’t see Dwight taking over the company, I can see him being next in line and then someone new comes in. But I just don’t know.

I feel like it would be the case when the main person leaves (or dies) and they change them with someone else and the show quietly gets canceled after the next season. We’ll see I guess.

Steve Carell Confirms He’s Leaving The Office—but Show May Go On

Mon., Jun. 28, 2010 11:47 AM PDT by

Steve Carell, The Office Byron Cohen/NBC

If you happen to see Steve Carell in the next few days, knock him over the head, will ya? Out of love? ‘Cause clearly his brain has gotten all jumbly.

One of TV’s best comedic actors of all time has just confirmed to us that he is indeed leaving The Office this May—argh!—and get this, seems to think no one will care

E! News hit the red carpet for Steve’s new movie Despicable Me last night, and Steve made it clear he was not joking when he told BBC Radio he would leave The Office after the coming 2010-2011 season.

“I just think it’s time,” Steve told our Kristina Guerrero. “I want to fulfill my contract. When I first signed on I had a contract for seven seasons, and this coming year is my seventh. I just thought it was time for my character to go.”

But according to Steve, The Office could go on without him. “It doesn’t certainly mean the end of the show. I think it’s just a dynamic change to the show, which could be a good thing, actually. Add some new life and some new energy…I see it as a positive in general for the show.”

A positive that Michael Scott could be leaving Dunder Mifflin for good? Anyone else having a problem seeing that? Still, Steve, doused in Eau to Humility, had this to say about the attention he’s receiving for his exit: “I didn’t see it as a huge thing and I certainly didn’t anticipate any sort of hubbub over it. I’m just not going to extend my contract, but I didn’t see it as a huge deal.  And the show is great, and the ensemble is so strong, and the writers are great, so it’s just one part of that ensemble drifting off. They’ve incorporated so many new characters and so many new, great storylines that I have no doubt it’ll continue as strong if not stronger than ever.”

Color me gullible, but that sure doesn’t sound like the usual bargaining ploy to me. So file this one under Dammit! ‘Cause Steve Carell sure seems dead serious he plans to leave The Office.

Anyone else not agree with Steve that this is no big thang? Can you see the show living on without him?

Watch E! News tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7 p.m. to hear more from Steve.

Also, I would just like to point out that I’ve wanted to, for three years, post about ‘The Office on here and never have. Maybe I’ll finally do that this summer. Just a thought…

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Trailer

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Cos

Just saw the trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and I think its going to be an amazing two part event. I hope that it is better than part six (The Half Blood Prince), not that it was terrible, I just didn’t find it to be great. It was very well made, but I just felt it didn’t go anywhere. This one looks like it’s going to be huge.

In all honesty, I think all those involved should be extremely proud of the accomplishment of completing a series that spans seven novels. Something that is so time consuming that it has taken them over a decade to finish their respective film counterparts. And aside from one person (who passed away after the second one was finished shooting) the entire cast has been the same throughout the series. Something extremely difficult to do.

Enjoy the trailer:

Yeah, totally random, but when I saw the picture I couldn’t help but post it. Besides, its been a while since I’ve posted anything resembling a “Pic of the Day”.

Saw this off of facebook today, no idea what its about, but I laughed when I saw the pic:

Back to the Future on Blu-Ray?

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Cos

“Back to the Future” was the reason why I wanted to even get into film. I actually have the trilogy on DVD (I got it back in 2002 when they first put it out), I’m really posting about this because I’m shocked that its been 25 years since the movie came out…insane! I don’t remember the first movie coming out, but I remember when II and III came out. Seeing the commercials and the billboards for the movies. It was such a big deal.

Saw this article (more like a picture slide show) when I was over my parents for dinner today, and I have to say the first one “bp” is the first one I thought would most likely be gone, sooner rather than later.

If I were them, I would wait until this oil disaster is done and then rename/rebrand the company and see if things work. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fan of bp…I think the oil crisis in the Gulf is disgusting, unbelievable and such a complete and total waste…it also needs to be handled much better than it currently is. But, I’m not planning on getting on my soap box tonight…

Six Time Travel Realities from Cracked.com

I can’t even take credit for this one. But, if you know me, you know that I love Time Travel. From as far back as Back to the Future, Terminator, even Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (video game), I’ve been obsessed with Time Travel. Reality hit when I found out it wasn’t scientifically possible to go back in time. (I hung my head low that day). But it is somehow possible to go into the future (in theory) but I’ll never get to that point.

Anyway, I saw this off of cracked.com and I knew I needed to share it.
