The Mother Brain Files: Who is Expendable Follow-Up
By Mother Brain

So I just recently came across this article about Sly Stallone’s latest updates on the upcoming Expendables sequel. Following up on my blog about my dream cast for the sequel, I was surprised to see that some of my picks might actually become reality. While I marked out for the picks I predicted (Jean-Claude Van Damme and The Rock), I was surprised about the possibility of Charlie Sheen taking part in it. Now there’s plenty of Charlie Sheen action flicks I enjoyed as a kid (Platoon, Navy SEALS, The Rookie, etc). But like Mel Gibson, he was not on my list because of the controversy surrounding his life right now. I still think it’s a cool idea though. Now why Randy Orton and John Cena were mentioned is beyond me. Personally if Cena’s in it, I hope he gets killed off in the first 5 minutes. Now onto the article from EW.com:

After a day of passionate political debate with his Twitter followers, Sylvester Stallone is back talking about our preferred subject: the sequel to The Expendables. “Good day to say that the new story line for next Expendables is taking shape — many twists that i’ve yet to figure out yet — JCVD possibility!” he tweeted early this morning. Really, what better way for Jean-Claude Van Damme to prove his ticker is fine than by joining this muscle parade. Stallone appears hopeful: “How bout JCVD being the baddest of the bad? Painful and fun choice for the one who gets to do battle with him..,” he tweeted. When a fan joked that Ryan Seacrest should join the cast, Stallone responded, “Over that,” but said his buddy Charlie Sheen would be a strong choice — and that he almost had him in the first film, but his wife “birthed.” (Did we know Stallone and Sheen were friends? On Nov. 1, Stallone tweeted that he spent Halloween on a double-date with Bruce Willis, then he stopped by Sheen’s place and talked awhile before heading home. “Charlie looks absolutely like you see him on TV … Maybe better,” Stallone reported.) If Sheen is healthy, I’d enjoy seeing him trade barbs with Stallone, Jason Statham, and fingers crossed, Bruce Willis.

Stallone definitely has casting on the brain: “The Rock could eventually replace me after having been drafted into the EXPENDABLES Along with new young blood. Suggestions?” I’m all for Dwayne Johnson being the heir apparent — he’s got the body and the charisma. (And seriously, how great would they look together?) Other suggestions offered by fans:

• Michael Jai White: Stallone said he tried to get the Spawn, Universal Soldier: The Return, and Exit Wounds star for the first film, but he didn’t want to audition.

• Scott Adkins: Stallone said he tried to get White’s Undisputed II: Last Man Standing costar to play The Brit in the first film, but when it didn’t work out, he replaced him with Gary Daniels.

• A female: Stallone said, “But would you really buy it or see it only as a gimmick?”

• No one: After a 24-year-old fan suggested no young blood could hold a candle to Stallone’s crew, he said, “It’s not easy to find new bad asses that can act, but I believe the younger audiences want to be represented, right?”

• Randy Orton and John Cena: Stallone’s response to the WWE wrestlers: “POWERFUL WARRIORS, I agree.”

While Stallone works out and digests the input — his tweeted plans for this morning — what do you think? What younger badasses can act well enough to become a member of The Expendables?
