Orci & Kurtzman penning “Ender’s Game” film

Cos

I’ve mentioned Ender’s Game by author Orson Scott Card at least twice (and to prove it here are the links: Pizza Hut thoughts and Ender’s Game movie in development?) and I never did get around to writing a true review of the book nor did I get to read Speaker for the Dead, but I will get to it. Hopefully.

Anyway, word around the rumor sites is that Transformers, Star Trek and Fringe writers Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman are about to work on the “Ender’s Game” script to get it ready to shoot. I can see this being a huge movie and I hope they do it justice. I think they are the best two right now when it comes to sci-fi and action and I can’t see it going to anybody else.

"Star Trek" Duo Tackle "Ender's Game"

After a decade of on again/off again starts, the film adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s sci-fi tome “Ender’s Game” looks to be moving in the right direction again.

The story follows a child super soldier who plays a long simulation of Earth’s fight against the ‘bugger’ race of alien insects. As the ‘game’ wears on, he begins to lose his sanity and makes a final and devastating decision that has real world consequences.

Wolfgang Petersen was previously attached to helm the film but withdrew in mid-2008 and reports came later that the entire project had been scrapped in November of that year

Then in September last year came word that Gavin Hood (“Tsotsi,” “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”) has apparently rewritten Card’s most recent adaptation of the script and was developing the project as a director at Odd Lot Entertainment.

Now, “Star Trek” and “Transformers” duo Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci look to have come onboard to help in either producing or scripting duties. Orci recently tweeted “Ender’s Game! Us(K/O), Oddlot, and Gavin Hood taking his amazing script to the town! Who wants some?”

Kurtzman is currently shooting his directorial debut “Welcome to People” which Orci is producing. The pair are currently attached to at least four other projects in either a producing or writing capacity, including the “Star Trek” sequel.
