“Highlander” reboot gets a screenwriter

Cos

I was pretty certain I had posted about the potential Highlander reboot a long time ago, but from my last search I could not find anything that I posted Highlander related. Either my search was bad or I never got around to doing it.

Anyway, it seems as if Twighlight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg is penning the reboot. Great, that’s just what we need. I’m sure this will turn into a crappy remake with bad dialog. I mean of all the things to give this woman, why not give her the newest Nicolas Sparks novel?

Melissa Rosenberg, the screenwriter of the Twilight films, is set to work on Summit Entertainment’s reboot of the Highlander franchise, Heat Vision reports.

The remake, from producer Neal H. Moritz and set to be directed by Justin Lin Fast Five) was first announced in 2009, but details on the film’s development have been relatively quite.

The original film told the story of a race of immortals and one, Connor MacLeod who, after centuries of dueling to survive against others like him, finds himself face to face with a violent killer, determined to claim the fabled prize associated with becoming the very last survivor.

The film spawned several sequels, both theatrically and made for television as well as both live-action and animated television series.
