I am deeply saddened at the passing of Melissa’s grandmother, Helen Sost, better known to everyone as Mommom; who passed away last night at the age of 99.

Once you met someone within the extended Sost family it didn’t take long to meet Mommom, she was the center of the family, the heart of it. Many people, once they meet her, would undoubtedly end up calling her Mommom or some variation of it.

I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of the Sost family for over ten years now and have had the distinct pleasure of spending a lot time with Mommom on the many weekends that Melissa and I have gone down to her parents and to the many family events over the years.

For me, having someone like Mommom around was always like having another grandmother; a third one and I always appreciated it. I never forgot to say hello when we first arrived and I would never leave without saying goodbye and she never forgot to send her love with us on our treks back home or to my parents, whom she always asked about. My parents adored her and would go out of their way to spend a moment with her.

Mommom has left a tremendous legacy behind her with not only children and grandchildren (and even some great and even a great great) but with the countless other individuals who have been brought into the extended Sost family, one that continues to grow every day. I will never forget Mommom and will always remember her as the caring and loving person that she was.

I just wanted to say thank you Mommom for the last ten years I had a chance to spend with you. I will truly miss you.
