OUT THIS WEEK (in Theaters)

Weekend of: September 16th–18th, 2011

This week brings us four new major releases to the theaters, I’ve actually only heard of one of them, and that would be The Lion King in 3D. I’ve seen The Lion King many times, I saw it when it originally came out back in 1994! I’m a littler disappointed that they decided to put this out on 3D, but money talks, and I get that too.

The other releases I’ve either seen commercials for and completely ignored  them(Drive and I Don’t Know How She Does It) or been haunted by their ads popping up on a bunch of the websites that I frequent (Straw Dogs).

Here are the four movies that are coming out this week in theaters!

Drive

Starring: Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Albert Brooks, Bryan Cranston, and Ron Perlman

Directed by: Nicholas Winding Refn

Drive is about a stunt car driver/getaway driver who has to go on the defensive when a planned heist goes wrong. This movie has won a number of awards and after viewing the trailer you see below it looks like a pretty good movie.

I Don’t Know How She Does It

Starring: Sarah Jessica Parker, Pierce Brosnan, Greg Kinnear, Christina Hendricks, and Kelsey Grammer

Directed by: Douglas McGrath

I Don’t Know How She Does It follows Kate (Parker) and how she balances out her personal life with her professional life. This looks like a perfect chick flick for any of you females out there that will undoubtedly drag your man to go see this one. It honestly looks like it could be funny, so I’d have no problem seeing this one.

The Lion King 3D

With the voices of: Jonathan Taylor-Thomas, Matthew Broderick, James Earl Jones, Jeremy Irons, and Moira Kelly

Directed by: Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff

My absolute favorite Disney movie of all time. It has been a long time since I’ve actually sat down to watch this movie and let me tell you it gets better and better every time I watch it. I’m not a big fan of the 3D movie phenomenon, I personally think it is dying down. But if you have never seen The Lion King, why not go check it out. Absolute classic!

Straw Dogs

Starring: James Marsden, Kate Bosworth, Alexander Skarsgård, James Woods and Dominic Purcell

Directed by: Rod Lurie

Straw Dogs follows similar movies in this genre of horror, the trailer reminds me of bits of the Liv Tyler movie The Strangers and the Wes Craven original and remake Last House on the Left among some other less notable ones in recent memory.  What this movie has is some great actors in James Marsden, Kate Bosworth and True Blood’s Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd and I can only assume that they’ve done a great job. Movie looks like it should have some great thrills.
