This is the last week in September, in fact, today is the last day in September. Where did September go? I’m going to miss September. Aside from the fact that we had pretty much all four seasons this month, this is the last time we’ll probably get those really warm days (aside from the possibility of a Indian Summer…).

I had a lot more written in the opening paragraphs but something happened and it didn’t save, so instead of trying to act all nice about it, I’m just going to go ahead and say here is the week’s worth of Entertainment Headlines:

Week of September 26th–30th, 2011

Mortal Kombat seems to have had some life breathed back into it with the internet short Mortal Kombat: Rebirth followed by the web series by the same director Mortal Kombat: Legacy. Both the short and the web series followed a darker more realistic tone (ala the reboots of Batman and James Bond), writer/director Kevin Tancharoen is again set for the same duties. The new feature will not follow the same continuity as the short and the web series, and it is also unknown at this time if the movie will actually follow the same style as the smaller versions or the more epic nature of the video games it will be based on…

Scream has again come up in the rumor mills as series director, Wes Craven, has gone on record as saying that despite the mediocre box office grosses for Scream 4 (or is it Scre4m?)  film financier Bob Weinstein wants to make another movie and whether Craven is apart of it is still unknown at this time…

Steven Spielberg is being wooed by Warner Bros. for a Moses biopic (film talk for biography picture) that would be a massive epic movie entitled: “Gods and Kings”. The screenplay chronicles Moses from birth to death and is not to be thought of as a remake to the famous Cecil B. Demille classic “The Ten Commandments”. While no formal offer has been given to the legendary film maker, word is that Spielberg working on the film might be quite slim…

The Dark Knight Rises is again running around the rumor mill (and this is actually part one of three updates from the threequel–God I hate that term, but I guess I really need to be hip to the internet lingo right?), this time because of a possible minor to major spoiler (so stop reading here if you don’t want things ruined). Seems as if Cillian Murphy, who has played Dr. Jonathan Crane better known as the evil Scarcrow, will be returning in a small cameo. I am surprised as to how long the character of The Scarcrow has endured in this trilogy, he has been such a nuisance to Batman, I am almost 100% certain that the scene with Scarcrow would have gone to Heath Ledger, if it wasn’t for his untimely death in 2008. But, I would be remiss if I didn’t say that in my opinion, a cameo for Ledger’s Joker would not have settled well with me. I am happier just knowing that, at least in director Chris Nolan’s Batman universe, the Joker has a permanent residence in Arkham Asylum.  As for Murphy, I think he has a great screen presence and should be in more movies as a bad guy…

Also in Dark Knight Rises news (part two of three) if you’ve ever wanted to be in a Batman movie then tomorrow might just be your chance, especially if you are in New York City and if you’re willing to wait in line with the rest of the world for the chance to just be an extra! Cinema Blend has the details, check them out at Cinema Blend if you’d like the chance to be in the third part of Chris Nolan’s epic Batman trilogy…

Finally, on the Dark Knight Rises front (part three of three) pictures surfaced of Anne Hathaway in full on Catwoman gear. This is a spoiler, so if you’re daring, click the link: Dark Horizons. My opinion is that there might be more to the costume (I hope the hell that there is) because it just doesn’t look like something that belongs in a Chris Nolan movie. That’s just me…

The “Dead Island” video game hit has been optioned by Lionsgate (Lord knows they are in just as big of a need of a hit as The Weinstein Company is) which is about a paradise island that gets taken over by a contagion of zombies. Sounds right up my alley. I love zombies. I just hope they don’t try and make it into a Resident Evil style movie. They should stick to making a good zombie movie. That’s something that has seriously been lacking recently…
