I guess one of the problems with the change is that none of the links to videos came through, but like I said in the first post here on this side is that for as long as the Live Journal entry is up, if you’re really interested, you can go back and check it out. Anyway, I just wanted to put out there for anyone interested in seeing my senior thesis, Ethan Ross, I’m posting it here.

Adam, who was the director of photography and editor on it back in 2004, like me, was never completely happy with the end result. We both knew it could be a lot cleaner and could run smoother. Four years later, Adam comes to me and asks for all of the DV tapes from the shoot, which I still have and he proceeded to edit it down, with minimal help from me. I trust him to know what I want. We know each other by this point.

When Ethan Ross was originally cut in 2004, it had a 55 minute run time off of a 45 page script (it was very ambitious for a senior thesis at that point) but I always knew that if I had another month of prep-time or even another month of just pre-production I would have ironed out all the kinks and made sure everything was where it needed to be. The version that went out to everyone back in 04 was a 45 minute cut. We liked it, didn’t love it, but it was fine and I got the grade and graduated and everything is literally history.

Adam, again with very little help from me, I think I only asked for two or three specific things, edited the film down to 35 minutes and then placed it on Vimeo. He says there may be a chance to have it put into a festival this coming March, so I’m crossing my fingers.

Even if you don’t have time to watch the whole 35 minute movie, check out the trailer (another inspiration of Adams) which I really enjoy watching, it always makes me laugh:

Click here to view the embedded video.

So, if you do have 35 minutes of time on your hands, sit back and enjoy Ethan Ross:

Click here to view the embedded video.

–Cos

PS If you happen to view both the trailer and the movie you’ll see two slightly different CosMel Entertainment logos (now lovingly referred to as the Peanut CME logo). Both are still in the process of being completed and we’re just waiting for a finalized one. I just couldn’t take the old one anymore. I needed a change.

Stacy’s cousin’s daughter took our camera early on and took a whole bunch of pics, some of which were good some of which just weren’t.

So here are a handful of pics from the premiere at the Maya Deren Theater and the after party at Demphy’s:

DAILY RECORD STAFF REPORTS
Tuesday, April 3, 2007

MENDHAM — A local shop was the setting for a movie filmed over the weekend.

The movie, whose working title is “The Waiting Game,”was described as a satire about relationships and love.

It was filmed Saturday, Sunday and Monday at the Scarlet clothing shop at 6 East Main St.

“The story is one we have all experienced and can relate to,”press agent Michael G. Ball said. “Sitting by the fitting room and waiting for our girlfriend or boyfriend to asked that loaded question: ‘Does this make me look fat?’”

About two dozen actors, directors and other production assistants were on scene at 11 a.m. Sunday, along with a Mendham police officer. The shop was closed. Props included a pile of $36 Lacoste polo shirts on a table.

A male actor, in character, explained his philosophy of love –”15 minutes in the back of my van,” he said.

“The Waiting Game” is being produced by Green Gecko Films. Two of the company’s directors, Adam Chinoy and Marcos Cosme, are graduates of the electronic filmmaking program at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Or rather, Co-Director’s Commentary.

The last four days we a whirlwind that came and went in almost a blink of an eye. This wasn’t a small little student film shot outside in the middle of January or in the middle of the summer but a full on short film production with dozens of professionals and friends, all doing favors for what they believe is a good film.

I want to say that I have a lot to write about, and I do! But nothing can really explain how great a feeling it is to have six months worth of work finished in three days, to see 18 different characters that were weeks ago simply names on paper get taken by their significant actor and be brought to life.

Its a great feeling. I am both happy and sad that it is over. The feeling at the end of the day yesterday was that of leaving college as slowly people started leaving until it was just a few left to pick up the store.

Looking towards the future, I can’t wait to see how Adam edits it, tweaking a film so close to the end is always fun just working the bugs out of certain things. Just because filming is over does not mean the fun is over.

So far the best experience that I’ve had with film (my one of two experiences) and I extremely enjoyed it and I hope to have more experiences in the future with it…very soon.

–Marcos Cosme

And just in case you never check out the site, go to Adam’s http://greengeckofilms.com/ for more info on The Waiting Game, my site still needs some work done to it, and I need a new logo (but for the hell of it, go to http://www.cosmelentertainment.com and tell me what you think) so anyone that can help with that, I’d be really grateful.
