I’ve really been going through a writer’s block this week, so I’ve been happy that I’ve had other contributors posting the majority of these blog entries. This one is more thought producing, leave comments.

Saw this on Lordsofpain.net:

Update on Triple H’s New Role with WWE & His Career

Posted by Marc Middleton on September 8, 2010 at 4:36 PM

- Triple H has been promoted to an Executive position within WWE and now working in the office. His official title is Senior Adviser and will be working directly under Vince McMahon on the creative side. A new office was being put together for Triple H in Stamford this past week.

There’s a lot of speculation right now about how this will effect his career in the ring. Triple H is 41 years old and has had many injuries, but there isn’t being anything said about this leading to his retirement.

…and I don’t know if its like the New WWE logo or how the WWE may unify all of their championships but this one really got me thinking.

Triple H has been one of my favorite wrestlers from the last eleven plus years, from his DX days (pick which ever one you want to go back to–I think there have been four different eras), to the McMahon/Helmsley era, his loner era, his Evolution era. For everything bad, he has consistently been entertaining. I know that his peak year was back in 2000 when the WWE was red hot with some of the most memorable (post-smash tv) storylines. The WWE could do no wrong and they were consistently the best thing on TV.

One thing that I would like to bring up is how often people turn on Triple H and pretty much crap on him. I know, he’s dominated our televisions for almost a decade, I know he married into the owner’s family, I know that instead of phasing out of the main event he’s been there non-stop for over a decade and that with his drive to beat Ric Flair’s 16-Time World Champion status, we should all know that he still has a couple more championships left; and on top of all that, the quality of matches has gone down. If he wasn’t severely injured (quads) and booked as dominate as he is in the ring, then I don’t think people would have an issue with him. But I do find it funny how I’ve heard rumblings before SummerSlam that if he wasn’t injured, he would have been back to face Sheamus for the WWE Championship and that people were actually excited to see him.

Are these the same people that shit on him? Who is your hero now? But if he is taking an office position, how would we feel? Honestly? I mean if we never saw Triple H again, would we really be happy? I don’t know if I would. I mean, we all know he’ll be back…eventually, he may even be back as soon as Night of Champions in a few weeks, but if he didn’t come back, did he ever really help propel anyone? Sure, he went out with Sheamus beating him back in April, but did that really help Sheamus? Has he been able to truly utilize the rub? Can we even call it a rub knowing that Triple H will somehow, most likely, get the win back…somehow? Even if he is reveled to be the Anonymous GM?

Leave some comments, tell me what you think.

We Don’t Know Anything About the Wrestling Business? Who Cares?

by: Smark Central

Over the last 15 years the internet has quickly become a fixture in our everyday lives. It has opened our eyes and shown us things that we have never been exposed to before. Whether its intimate details about a celebrity’s personal life or Asian fart porn, there is an endless cavalcade of information to be held. One of the things I use the internet for the most is reading about the ins and outs, rumors, and factual information about professional wrestling, more specifically the WWE. Now we all know there is a lot of misinformation on the internet. In fact there may be more misinformation than actual information depending what you’re looking for. However, I do not think that even with all the false rumors and hearsay that the WWE can justify the internet wrestling community as being “stupid”.

Call me a smark if you want, an internet nerd, a whiner, a complainer, but don’t tell me that I know absolutely zero about what goes on behind the scenes. I have been watching this stuff for twenty four of my twenty seven years on this Earth so I know what I’m talking about when it comes to professional wrestling. No, I may not know all the ins and outs of the business and what it takes to run a company like the WWE, but I know what makes sense. Having Kane come out and claim that he’s done horrible things to Rey Mysertio and then have Mysterio come out without a scratch and have no explanation of where he’s been over the last six weeks doesn’t make sense. Having Jeff Hardy play the hero over someone promoting a clean lifestyle despite Hardy being a drug addict is dumb. I could go on all day about the stupid angles, stories, pushes over the past few years, but my point is it does not take intimate knowledge of the wrestling business to know what makes sense and what makes for good TV.

I think the problem is the majority of the fans are stupid. Some still think what goes on in and out of the ring is real. This is where the Internet Wrestling Community (IWC) is at a disadvantage. We are outnumbered and therefore our opinions and feelings are not acknowledged as much as the kids and the dumb rednecks who don’t even know what the word “mark” means. I mean we are all guilty of being marks at times, but these people are absolutely convinced that The Miz in the ring is the same guy who’s ordering a hamburger at McDonalds.

The other complaint about the internet fans is that we complain too much. We always have something to bitch about. I agree that we sometimes get carried away. That the programs are not as bad as we make them out to be, but that’s only because we care more than anyone else about this business. A lot of fans will come and go. Some of these kids watching now will stop watching and wonder why they ever watched this “garbage” to begin with, but not us. The so called “internet complainers” are your truest and loyalist fans of all. We have seen the highest highs and the lowest lows that this company has seen and we’ve stayed. Even now that the program has reverted back to a state just as kid friendly and safe as the one we began watching we have stayed. So while the idiots may have the loudest voice, we have the most passionate one. While we may bitch and moan every time John Cena wins another World title its only because we care and we want the show to be the best it can be (also because Cena is a giant butt kissing tool).

If the attitude era proved one thing it proved that if you listen to your fans, you can have success. You listened to us then Vince, don’t stop now. Don’t’ take the easy way out because you can. Don’t try to outsmart us. Just write great, compelling television that makes sense. It doesn’t have to be trash TV w/boobs and beer and middle fingers, it just has to be done well. If it makes perfect sense to have Christian be Jeff’s attacker then don’t make it Matt Hardy just because someone spoiled it over the internet. That’s dumb. That makes no sense. That made be want to punch a cripple who’s holding a baby and throw them into a pit of fire. Please Vince save the cripples and babies and make WWE great again. We all know what it can be. There is enough talent to make it happen, but it’s up to you to put it all together. Good luck my friend, your going to need it.

Andre’ Joseph, the star, writer, and director of AJ Epyx Productions’ Priceless, is back with Dishonorable Vendetta, a contemporary crime thriller from Cool Multi Media, LLC and AJ Epyx Productions, LLC.

Keith Miller (CHRIS CORULLA, JR.) used to be very focused as an undercover DEA agent. Now he lives a lonely existence following the brutal murder of his wife. His personal leave is cut short, however, when family members of the Bolivian drug lord he was investigating get killed in their home.

Miller teams up with his cautious yet skillful partner, Jason Stokes (ANDRE’ JOSEPH) as they learn of a massive stash of cocaine that was taken from the Bolivian drug lord’s home. They also manage to link the murders to a vicious, competitive Russian drug lord named Vlad Rodchenko (FRANK SELLERS) and his crime syndicate outfit led by his right-hand man, Pavel Sidorov (KONSTANTIN SOUKHOVETSKI). The DEA works in co-junction with the FBI to form an operation where Miller and Stokes go undercover to infiltrate Rodchenko’s empire and bring him down from the inside.

Soon, the case is put into jeopardy due to Miller’s instability, his troubled relationship with fellow agent and former lover Samantha Torres (LISA MARIE-WELDON), and the presence of a mysterious leak in the DEA who works closely with Rodchenko. These tough special agents’ loyalty will be tested, secrets will unfold, and methods will be ‘dishonorable’.

By Mother Brain

So this past Tuesday, I tune in to the second season finale of WWE NXT not only to see who would win but also to find out who would be the new rookies for season three. The rumor on the net was that the format would change and have the 8 rookies divided between men and women. Not a bad concept; however, WWE as always decided to swerve the internet rumors and announce an all diva competition instead.

Now don’t get me wrong. There are some interesting prospects for future divas, specifically the 6’9 Aloisia who definitely looks as if she could have given Chyna a run for her money back in the Attitude era. Whether word of her so-called “firing” by Vickie Guerrero remains to be seen. But for now, besides her, 4 out of the 6 diva rookies are all ex-models trying to be wrestlers. And when you overview the current state of the divas’ division as a whole, I can only name 5 women with actual wrestling ability.

Whatever happened to the earlier part of the previous decade when the divas showed more promise than the days of Wendi Richter and Alundra Blaza/Madusa? In the period of 2002-2006, WWE had the best of women who could wow the crowd with their looks and in-ring talent. Trish Stratus set the bar, like most Canadian wrestlers do, for adding a level of sexuality to the ring while telling great stories with such defined performers as the wholesome Molly Holly, the sadistic Victoria, and Mickie James during her heelish stalker angle. There was also the high-flying Lita who not only complemented the style of her in-ring acquaintances, the Hardy Boyz, but also went from a huge fan favorite to bringing her real-life love triangle with Matt Hardy and Edge into the ring. Many of these divas executed great matches that made the fans sit and watch rather than take a bathroom break.

But by 2006, the best of the divas were phasing themselves out for careers in film and television. The company began to seriously push their annual Diva Search competition to bring new women into the fold. Yet most of these women from Christy Hemme to Eve Torres were coming from the world of modeling and some of them had no knowledge of wrestling whatsoever. Maybe it had to do with GoDaddy.com babe-turned-diva Candice Michelle being popular in the mainstream and how she worked hard to improve her in-ring skills, leading to a Women’s Championship victory in 2007. But even in an age where sex sells, wrestling fans still expect quality matches from the divas as opposed to gimmick matches like Playboy Pillow Fights and Bull Riding competitions (Note that I did not mention bra and panties matches. I gotta be a little bias).

With more ex-models-turned-divas than ever, fans pinned their hopes on the likes of Mickie James, Beth Pheonix, Natalya, and to a certain degree Melina to continue raising the bar on the division; however, with Melina being injury prone, Mickie’s weight controversy, and the other stronger divas being thrown into bad storylines and/or seeing little in-ring action, WWE would push the likes of Kelly Kelly and the Bella Twins because of their looks more so than wrestling ability. Their push would be a factor in Mickie James being fired from the company, leading to a lackluster 2010 of divas action. With few exceptions, the majority of the WWE Divas now all look the same and have one of two personalities: No personality as a face or a simple bitch personality as a heel.

Now what about the TNA Knockouts? Initially, there was a great deal of promise when Gail Kim was positioned as the top face and having a division full of distinct personalities such as ODB, Awesome Kong, the Beautiful People, Taylor Wilde, etc. Some of these women were not exactly diva material for WWE but they helped to show that TNA can be full of women of all shapes and sizes. Unfortunately, mismanagement in recent years for TNA has brought the Knockouts division down, resulting in losing top stars, poorly booked storylines, and a much smaller presence in the Hogan/Bischoff regime.

Time can only tell if women’s wrestling will ever regain the respect it deserves. At least for WWE, the loss of Mickie James and most recently Straight Edge Society member Serena has put them on a major search for highly talented women, even if that meant taking every potential diva out of developmental and onto the new NXT season. Whether the move sinks or swims remains to be seen.

I saw this article the other day and just didn’t get a chance to post it. A video game version of Back to the Future, in this day and age, would be awesome. Not only are the movie studios going back to the 80′s now for their remakes, but for their video games as well. Back to the Future (I, II, and III) were Nintendo games back in the day, and I don’t honestly think they were that good, but I also never played them.

Here are some screen caps that I found on google:

God bless all of us who played games back in the 80′s. This just reminded me of the Who Framed Roger Rabbit game that my cousin Eliud let me borrow back when Roger Rabbit first came out (I think that was ’88). I just did a quick search and while not the best pic, I think it might show the graphics of these games. We definitely had imaginations back then huh?

Funny thing about both Back to the Future and Roger Rabbit is that both movies were director by Robert (you should stop making dumb movies and making good ones again) Zemeckis, and both had actor Christopher Llyod acting in it.

Anyway, this article was from joblo.com:

Unless there’s some chronal chicanery involved, we’re never going to see more BACK TO THE FUTURE movies. But that doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of Doc Brown and Marty McFly.

Telltale Games (known for their “Sam & Max” games) is bringing the beloved characters and their decade-jumping exploits to your local console, and USA Today premiered some artwork showing how the game’s exaggerated versions of Doc and Marty might look.

The games will unfold in five “episodes”, and the original trilogy’s screenwriter Bob Gale is working on the story with the game developers. Steven Spielberg is among the producers, and Christopher Lloyd is back to provide Doc’s voice as only he (well, and Dan Castellaneta) can.

Those few words kick started my world of Duke Nukem. I remember playing this game with some friends during my early years of high school back in 96-97 (which just writing it down makes me feel old). I can remember hearing rumblings about a new Duke Nukem game that would never come out…but it looks like it might just finally be coming out next year.

Though the game has been presumed dead so many times you’d need an abacus to keep track, “Duke Nukem Forever” is very much alive – and he’s coming to store shelves soon.

Take Two Interactive Software pulled off one of the video game world’s biggest surprises Friday, announcing not only that the over-a-decade-in-development first person shooter was nearly finished, but backing that claim up by giving the 150,000 people attending the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle the chance to play the game.

The rest of the world will get its chance in 2011 – on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

First announced in 1997, “Duke Nukem Forever” became an annual presence on vaporware lists and a running joke among gamers for its molasses-like development schedule and frequent restarts. A year ago, it appeared the final nail had been hammered into the game’s coffin, when developer 3D Realms ran out of money, let go virtually all of its employees and began a legal war with its publisher, Take-Two Interactive Software.

That suit was settled earlier this year, however. And while 3D Realms is no more, Gearbox Software, the studio behind “Borderlands” and “Brothers in Arms” (and staffed with a number of former 3DR employees), has taken over development on the game.

“Gearbox has enabled die-hard key Duke Nukem franchise builders and skilled veteran game makers to stand together and deliver,” said Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software. “All gamers deserve a happy ending and after all of us gamers feeling the full range of emotions about Duke Nukem Forever, I am thrilled to be in a position with the trust, power and means to make it happen.”

“Duke Nukem Forever” is, technically, a sequel to 1996’s “Duke Nukem 3D” – though normally a sequel takes no more than three years to put together, while “DNF” started in the Clinton administration.

The game missed ship-date after ship-date, and many began to assume it would never see the light of day. Many pointed to 3D Realms co-founder George Broussard as the reason for the delays – noting that his obsession with perfection for the title resulted in a never-ending cycle of changes.

The bad times are over now, though – and the game is nearing completion. And after 13 long years, some of the industry’s most core fans at PAX have finally gotten to see for themselves if the wait was worth it.

A new breed of exorcism?

By: Chosen 1

One of the all time scariest movies in the eyes of many, including myself, was first released in December of 1973. Just one day removed from one of the most religious holidays of the year, Warner Brothers introduced us to a little girl named Regan who had been taken over by demon who if you read the novel in which the movie was based on went by the name “Pazuzu”. Throughout the film you are at the edge of your seat waiting for what demonic trick would scare the hell out of you next. I guess a lot of what scares the viewers throughout this movie is the unknown. It is natural belief by many that there is a heaven and hell. So if you can pray and be heard in the heavens it is then indeed possible to be heard by those who have not reached “the promised land”. The special effects used throughout this movie were “simple” yet spectacular. From the projectile vomit to the complete 360 degree turn of the young girls head; makeup artists and special effect coordinators made us believe that this little girl was losing her battle with this demon. She of course was not battling this demon alone. Along with her for the unwanted ride were two priests. Father Karras who had begun to lose his faith as his mother had fallen deathly ill and Father Marrin a much more elderly priest who himself is ailing an seemingly doesn’t have much time left. The fight for the little girl’s life is what brought this movie to a whole new level of horror. Over the last 30 plus years this movie has been sequeled, spoofed, re-released, but never was the horror duplicated.

Fast forward to August 27, 2010 the marquee reads “The Last Exorcism” I had not seen much in the way of previews for the movie but enough to know that it was done documentary style. All I was thinking was great they took the legacy of one of the greatest horror movies of all time, the before mentioned Exorcist, and turned it into a “Blair Witch” wannabe. In all honesty it was not my choice to even go see this movie I was pushing for “Dinner with Schmucks”. As it happens most times I lost the battle but the movie was free so I was not going to complain too much.
The movie begins in a small town in Louisiana where beloved preacher Reverend Cotton Marcus has set forth to end the belief that humans can be possessed by demons. Professor Jeremiah Lasky oops sorry i mean Reverend Marcus had performed more “exorcisms” then he could remember as he started when he was just a young boy very strong in his faith. He tells the camera crew that since becoming a family man he has basically become an actor simply faking his way through sermons and exorcisms making believers out of all of his followers that he was indeed blessed by the hands of their god. A story breaks that a young child dies at the hands of a priest during an exorcism and this is what sets Reverend Marcus on his less then holy expedition. He takes his crew to a farm of a family who believes their young daughter is possessed by a demon. He tricks them into allowing him to provide his skills in order to save the young girl. On camera he shows us the tools of his trade (rings that create an electric current shocking the “possessed”, tape recordings of sounds of “demons”, and a smoking cross that captures the “demon” inside after he has freed the little girl just to name a few. Through many special effects similar to the original “Exorcism” but polished for the next generation of moviegoers we begin a roller coaster ride that touches on every possibility of the young girls troubles.

The movie is pretty captivating and although not as scary as its original predecessor steals a couple of cheap gasps and jumps. Unfortunately the last 10 minutes may drown what otherwise was a very well put together movie. The roller coaster ends and you say “really?” Other then that I would give a 3 out of 5 stars and recommend if you are in the mood for a decently scary movie you should check it out. My final opinion good movie but will most likely will lose a lot of its appeal after it leaves the theater and loses the big screen and loud surround speakers.
