‘Dark Knight Rises’ cross $1 Billion at International Box Office
News broke out over this quiet box office weekend about Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ crossing over the $1 Billion mark at the worldwide box office. By reaching 1.05 billion ‘Rises’ now bests the 1.03 billion made by ‘The Dark Knight’ (TDK) back in 2008.
Although, ‘Rises’ has yet to beat (and probably won’t beat) ‘TDK’ at the domestic box office; ‘Rises’ now stands at a little under $100 million behind its predecessor. But that is nothing to sneeze at, seeing that ‘Rises’ has accumulated about $434 mil here in the states.
I for one still hope to catch it, again, on IMAX before it heads to DVD and Blu Ray (which has not been officially released but is now rumored to be November 30th, 2012).
I was just thinking, now that ‘Rises’ has climbed over the $1 billion mark, making Chris Nolan only one of two directors to have ever had two movies reach this level. The other one being James Cameron with ‘Avatar’ and ‘Titanic’.
Also, Christian Bale is also apart another elite group, he is the second actor to have more than one film in the $1 Billion club. He joins Johnny Depp, who has not only ‘Pirates: Dead Man’s Chest’ but ‘Pirates: On Stranger Tides’ (one was directed by Gore Virbinski and the other was directed by Rob Marshall) and ‘Alice in Wonderland’ directed by Tim Burton.
