Sometimes while I sit here at home contemplating life I have a show on the TV or music on just as background noise. Usually between wrestling, the occasional Buffy the Vampire Slayer or history shows. I do love my history. I’m a big fan of History channel or in my opinion the real History Channel which is H2 (History Channel’s second network). There might not be much on at any given point in time but the History Channel app on my Apple TV is full of some amazing shows.
One in particular is called “10 Things You Didn’t Know About ” currently in its 3rd season with Host Henry Rollins (that’s right, the musician) and I just put on the “10 Things You Didn’t Know About” episode about The American Flag and it is mentioned that Betsy Ross didn’t design the flag (something I’ve known about for quite some time) and it got me thinking about this little known HBO half hour special from back in 2006 called “Assume the Position with Robert Wuhl 101”.
In this special, which I’ll post the link to below (and they also have 102 which I didn’t see until years later) Robert Wuhl talks about what he calls the Liberty Valance effect where when the “Legend becomes fact, you print the legend,” which he goes into more detail in the show and I won’t ruin it for you here.
Check out this little special if you have a chance, its a good time, funny and makes you think about everything you’ve ever heard and thought was true. I wish more people had an open mind to think about truth rather than the facts that they’ve been force fed throughout their lives. Maybe this tiny little show can be the beginning to a greater good.
