Looks like after 16 years Google has finally re-branded its logo:

This change is due to the fact that it now has created its own parent company in the name of Alphabet (Google was never purchased, they just split what they do- they don’t just do web stuff anymore).

I personally like this change, not sure if I like the new “Web” version though, but like everything else, I’ll get used to it.
