‘The Lion King’ (2019) review

Spoilers ahead!

Like ‘Aladdin’ (2019) I’ve seen this version so many times. So, I’ve grown to like it. This will no where ever be as good as the original but I like it!

Off the top of my head:

  • Started watching this because, again today, because Aubrey said kitty cat
    • Aubrey loves watching this
    • I started watching this when Disney first put it out on Disney+ and just had it on early one morning that Aubrey woke up. Circle of Life was on and when the camera pans up to Mufasa she yelled out “kitty cat”
    • She raises her hands when circle of life is sung
  • When I first saw this I thought it was better than Aladdin 2019
    • Now I am joy in trust as much as Aladdin
  • Some songs didn’t work as well in this version
    • Didn’t like ‘Can’t wait to be king’
    • Why did they even bother making Scar sing Because Prepared’?
  • The special effects are outstanding
    • They did so good with the special effects
    • Every shot is almost flawless
    • I’m snobby and feel like I can find the moments that you can tell it’s not real
  • I like the little added bits that they included in the movie
    • Just a little added bits like the mouse at the beginning
    • Tweaks to dialogue
  • The inclusion of additional animals with Timon and Pumbaa
    • Everything with Timon and Pumbaa made me laugh
  • Everyone they picked as the voice actors was great
    • Yes including Beyoncé LOL
    • Bring him back James Earl Jones was a great choice because who else could be the voice of mufasa
    • Donald Glover as Simba is a perfect choice
  • I feel like I’m the only one that didn’t mind the talking animals in this “live action” lion king
  • Let’s talk about that – this movie is NOT live action
    • This is 99.9% CGI
    • The only shot in this movie that was not was the very first image of the sun rising

3 out of 4 stars

Mostly because of Aubrey and how she loves the movie.

Don’t you dare shut it off!

Have you seen it? What did you think?
