In 2010, Actor/Director Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables gave action film lovers a hard-hitting, boots to the ground summer blockbuster reminiscent of the glorious blood and guys action films of the 80s. Now with its sequel, The Expendables 2, due out on August 17, you can jump in the frontlines of the action with the upcoming Expendables 2 Videogame. Developed by Ubisoft, the company that brought us the Assassin’s Creed series, Expendables 2 is an overhead arcade style game with a run-and-gun form of gameplay.

Like arcade classics of the past such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and G.I. Joe, Expendables 2 allows up to four players simultaneously to take on the characters from the film played by Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, and Jet Li. Its premise is sandwiched in between the events of the 2 films as the Expendables must travel from the deserts of Somalia to the jungles of Burma to rescue a billionaire captured by renegade mercenaries. The trailer alone appears to guarantee addictive gameplay with almost photorealistic graphics that capture the explosive essence of the Expendables movies.

The Expendables 2: Videogame will be available for download on the Playstation Network on July 31. Then it will be available on Xbox Live and PC digital download on the same day when The Expendables 2 movie gets released on August 17.
