Star Wars: Force Friday- BB8

As we continue to progress closer to the release of ‘Star Wars: Episode VII- The Force Awakens’ on December 18. Disney is slowly ramping up all things Star Wars related from books, video games, comics, shows and as of today toys.

Today has been deemed Force Friday as toys from ‘The Force Awakens’ have been released today (at midnight to be exact) and I for once am extremely excited. I feel as if Star Wars is being taken seriously with Disney in charge and J.J. Abrams directing and the toys just look amazing.

R2D2 will always have a place in my heart, I love that little droid. But for the Star Wars sequels they have developed this little round droid that looks like he may be the most fun character yet: BB8

bb8-star-wars-660x330Inspired by sketches for what R2 was supposed to look like in the original Star Wars, the filmmakers have been able to accomplish something unique and amazing with this little round droid that can keep its head at the top while rolling around, all without computer graphics.

Here is a video of R2D2 and BB8 meeting from this year’s Star Wars Celebration:

Now, with Force Friday here, they have unveiled this amazing toy for BB8 that is app driven, small and cute. I’d love to have it if it wasn’t for the fact that it cost $150. While I think this is a fantastic little toy, I don’t think its currently worth the $150 but I would consider buying one in the future when they have greatly advanced the technology for the little guy.
