Christain Bale as Robin Hood

Just because its open and I found it and I mentioned below (or above, again depending on if you’re viewing this in the archives of the blog) but apparently Christian Bale is not only Batman and John Connor, but he’s also going to be Robin Hood.

Here is the article, which was posted on Darkhorizons.com on June 20th:

Here’s a very interesting casting rumor. The Daily Mail reports that Ridley Scott is keen to cast Christian Bale as Robin Hood in his upcoming reinvention of the legend “Nottingham”.

The new version pains the Sheriff of Nottingham (Russell Crowe) as a more noble character forced to work for a tyrant, whilst Hood himself will be portrayed as a much darker and dangerous personality than previous incarnations.

Sienna Miller was cast earlier this week to play Maid Marion who becomes the center of a love triangle with Hood & the Sheriff.

Vanessa Redgrave, William Hurt and young “Atonement” actress Saoirse Ronan will also apparently appear in the project which begins costume fittings next week.

Hey, that could work. And I’m sure Bale doesn’t want to be typecast as Batman, so this is probably in his best interest, really.

I doubt he’ll be typecast as Batman. He’s been in too many movies to be typecast. I think thats the difference between movies of the past and movies of today, you don’t really get typecast in a part anymore. As far as I can see at least. Except for maybe the kid who plays Harry Potter. But he’s in that play showing off his parts so he might be doing well for himself.

Err, I guess. I think you’re probably right there, Bale’s in everything else, so that works.

The guy who plays Wolverine made a big deal about being typecast, and now he’s in the new Wolverine movie. Hmm.

The guy who played Screech in Saved By The Bell got typecast, and so did the guy who played Mini Me. I heard both have leaked sex tapes to shock people out of seeing them in their old roles. I wonder if it actually works, I don’t think so.

I doubt it. But those are people that are solely known for those roles. Who went into them as unknowns and became stars because of the character they played in a movie or tv show. Like the original cast of Star Wars, aside from Harrison Ford who was a slightly known actor before playing Han Solo, are mostly still stereotype into their roles. But I doubt that Natalie Portman and Ewan McGregor will be typecast as playing characters in a Star Wars movie because they were known actors before they were even in the movie. I think times have slightly changed.

That’s true. Mark Hamill has done the voice of The Joker in just about every animated Batman movie and TV show, which is pretty kickass…it’s a shame he still needs to be introduced as Luke Skywalker.

I think you’re right with the other actors – I don’t think of Star Wars when I think of Harrison Ford.

Blade Runner? I still haven’t seen that one. (I know you’re surprised)

I think of Harrison Ford as the ordinary man who needs to save his family from terrorists. See: Firewall, Air Force One, etc.
