Brett Ratner wants a “Guitar Hero” movie

Uh….

…before I post the article, I just wanted to say that a number of years ago, I thought Brett Ratner to be an up-and-coming director with a promising future. He had Rush Hour 1 and Rush Hour 2 was amazing. Hey did a movie with Nic Cage called The Family Man and that was ok. Then he did Red Dragon, the prequel to Silence of the Lambs, and that was pretty good. I was extremely happy about that one. Then he went and did X-men: The Last Stand, and to my utter disgust and dismay he completely butchered everything that was set up in the first one and made a piece of shit third movie to finish off the series. I have no doubt that there may be a fourth movie, but at the same time, they are going to have some tough work ahead of them repairing the damage from this one. Then, last summer he did Rush Hour 3 and that was horrible. After such a great second movie, why would you go and do that un-inspired crap?

But I digress. Here’s the “genius”:

It’s that game we all play when we’re drunk at home with friends – Guitar Hero.

Now, “Rush Hour” and “Red Dragon” helmer Brett Ratner wants to bring that experience to the multiplex it seems.

Speaking with MTV News, Ratner says “I would love to do a Guitar Hero movie, if Activision would ever let me. I’m trying to convince them”.

What in the world could the plot be? “It could be about a kid from a small town who dreams of being a rock star and he wins the Guitar Hero competition.”

Ratner remains attached to direct another video game adaptation – “God of War”.

When I was younger and I used to write scripts I thought about having one of the characters saying something like, “I really want to see a Tetris movie…” I’ll put this article right up there with my thoughts about that one. In the garbage.
