Ruthless Roundtable: WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Predictions
The time has come for us to launch into the world of post Wrestlemania WWE Pay-Per-Views, a realm that allows itself to be completely gimmicked to ensure the highest amount of excitement and awe; and to which, none have truly given us the satisfaction of what wrestling used to be.
With that said, tonight we embark on this years Extreme Rules PPV and honestly, I’ve never seen a PPV that has as many of the same gimmicks as I see here.
Can someone tell me what the difference between an Extreme Rules match, a Street Fight, or a Falls Count Anywhere Match are? In reality, are they not the same thing? They are all different names for a hardcore match! All of which we will most likely not see any blood for!
And if someone tells me that the participants in the Street Fight will be wearing “street” clothes and that is the only difference, I’ll punch you in the face! Well, I’m kidding about the punching in the face, but I just won’t talk to you for a very, very long time…
Sigh, I feel like the only good aspect of this PPV is the fact that Brock Lesnar is back in the WWE.
Here is the Extreme Rules card:
Extreme Rules Match:
-Brock Lesnar vs. John CenaChicago Street Fight For The WWE Title:

And with that said, here we go:
Cos’ WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Predictions
I still think they should move this event to May and bring back Backlash as their April (or 4th) PPV. This entire event could just be rematches from Wrestlemania and may just sell itself. I don’t think it needs to be gimmicked. But what do I know.
Here are my predictions:
Extreme Rules Match:
-Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena
This is pretty much the main attraction for this PPV. I’m tired of most of the recent WWE PPVs being a one match card. I know the Jericho/Punk Street Fight should be good, but I feel as if WWE backs the main event horse most of the time and forgets that the real reason a lot of people once used to buy every Sunday Night Pay Per View was because they gave them an entire card that they cared about. Now a days, they put a main event, that they think the audience wants to see and literally forgets about the rest of the card. There have been a handful of recent PPVs that they only had a few matches announced and at least two to four matches that just materialized the day of the event.
Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, I am excited about the fact that Lesnar is back in the WWE. I hope he beats Cena pretty well. I can see this lasting at least two more months. My hope is that it’ll continue on until their resurrected No Way Out PPV that will be emanating from the Izod Center here in New Jersey. An event that I will in fact be at.
Anyway…
Winner: Brock “Freaking” Lesnar
Chicago Street Fight For The WWE Title:
-CM Punk (c) vs. Chris Jericho
I have a strange suspicion that this might be where Chris Jericho wins the WWE Championship, even if it is just for another month or two. There needs to be a reason why they’ll push this feud to another month (as we all know they will) I feel by winning here, in Chicago no less, that’ll propel Punk back into the championship hunt and we’ll see more of these two (again, here’s hoping they can keep this up until June for No Way out!
Winner and NEW WWE Champion: Chris Jericho
2 out of 3 Falls Match For The World Title:
-Sheamus (c) vs. Daniel Bryan
As every week, I listen to the podcast, RBR Weekly Wrestling Talk, great show by the way and I think a lot of people should check them out; and I forgot who specifically it was on the show but it was said that there is a good chance that Sheamus will simply do a Brogue Kick on Daniel Bryan and get a six-count, thus winning the 2 out of 3 Falls match in two back to back falls.
I for one hope that the WWE saw the errors of their way and give the championship back to Bryan. Chance are they won’t.
I will say that if the poster for the (again, mentioned) No Way Out PPV is like it is below (no real confirmation as of this posting of whether or not the poster below is legitimate)
that Bryan will either win the Championship back here or at some point between now and the June PPV. That is if this isn’t a fake. Or, in all honesty, do any of the Superstars in the poster ever really have a huge match on the card?
I will however go out on a huge limb and say:
Winner and NEW World Heavyweight Champion: Daniel Bryan
Falls Count Anywhere Match:
-Randy Orton vs. Kane
Don’t really care, haven’t they had enough matches already?
Winner: Don’t care, won’t have any actually effect on the storylines.
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match:
-Big Show (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
It has honestly only been a few weeks since Wrestlemania and I really don’t care at all about the Intercontinental Championship. I think Show has had it long enough, time to give it back to a young, up and coming talent like Rhodes. Let him actually defend it against other young, up and coming talent and get this championship back to its glory days of being the championship that segues the talent towards the main event.
Winner and NEW Intercontinental Champion: Cody Rhodes
WWE Diva’s Title Match:
-Nikki Bella (c) vs. Beth Phoenix
Is this still happening? If rumors are true, Nikki Bella will retain and go on to be fed (match wise, not literally) to Kharma.
Also known as a bathroom break…
Winner and Still Diva’s Champion: Nikki Bella
Pre-show match to air live on YouTube:
WWE United States Championship Match:
-Santino Marella (c) vs. The Miz
What a waste of talent, I mean The Miz not Santino. How far has Miz fallen that he is not only back in a United States Championship match, but also not even on the actual PPV…hopefully this could be a decent match…knowing Santino, it probably won’t and also that it’ll be on the Pre-show, no championship will change hands…
Winner and Still United States Champion: Santino Marella
Mother Brain’s WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Predictions
By Mother Brain
Extreme Rules Match:
-Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena
There’s absolutely no way Cena can and should win this match. WWE shelled out a lot of cash to get Brock back and to have him lose his first match seems like a bad deal. Gotta go with my gut on this one.
Winner: Brock Lesnar
Chicago Street Fight For The WWE Title:
-CM Punk (c) vs. Chris Jericho
Don’t like the build despite the great talents involved. Hard to imagine Y2J get another title run when he’s expected to leave and go back on the road with Fozzy. Hopefully this match will surpass their Wrestlemania bout.
Winner: CM Punk
2 out of 3 Falls Match For The World Title:
-Sheamus (c) vs. Daniel Bryan
Unless there’s a major role reversal due to Bryan’s popularity and the backlash against Sheamus, expect AJ to interfere and cost Bryan the match. No. No. No.
Winner: Sheamus
Falls Count Anywhere Match:
-Randy Orton vs. Kane
Who the hell cares?
Winner: Randy Orton
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match:
-Big Show (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
Big Show had his fun with the IC belt. Give it back to Cody NOW.
Winner and new Intercontinental Champion: Cody Rhodes.
WWE Diva’s Title Match:
-Nikki Bella (c) vs. Beth Phoenix
My money is on the Bella chick so Kharma can return and rip her up limb by limb. But this is so much more interesting to watch at that moment:
Winner: Nikki Bella
Pre-show match to air live on YouTube:
WWE United States Championship Match:
-Santino Marella (c) vs. The Miz
Really? Really? REALLY?!
Winner: Santino Marella
Smark Central’s WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Predictions:
Time to predict Extreme Rulez or as I call it, WrestleMania Regurgitation – The night when WWE sees nothing wrong with asking you to pay $45.00 to see the same exact matches you paid $55.00 to see four weeks ago. I’m just kidding guys, nobody pays to see any of these non-WrestleMania shows, they just stream them online for free.
Extreme Rules Match:
-Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena
What I want to see: Brock needs to dominate this match to put the stamp on his return. Not only should he win, but he needs to hurt Cena bad (either real or kayfabe. I’m not picky). Brock is a monster and needs to look like one.
What will happen: I think Brock will win, but they won’t make Cena look too weak so it’s probably going to take a lot for Brock to beat Cena, but it still has to be clean and convincing. Cena CAN NOT go over, not yet. Brock wins.
Chicago Street Fight For The WWE Title:
-CM Punk (c) vs. Chris Jericho
What I want to see: There’s no way Jericho wins this match. He’s already got one foot out the door with Fozzy’s next tour coming up so all I want to see is the great match we should have gotten at Mania with Punk winning.
What will happen: Punk wins in a match that doesn’t quite meet expectations.
2 out of 3 Falls Match For The World Title:
-Sheamus (c) vs. Daniel Bryan
What I want to see: Ummm let me think…give it back to the guy with all the momentum, all the fan support, the better character, the better wrestler, and better mic skills or keep it on Sheamus? Such a tough choice…
What will happen: Unfortunately, WWE will do what WWE usually does and that’s kill the momentum of a guy who they don’t like. Now when I say “don’t like†it doesn’t mean they don’t like Bryan and don’t think he’s a good worker. The problem is he’s not a “WWE guyâ€. He doesn’t fit the (bodybuilder) mold that their looking for and he was not born and bred under the WWE banner unlike his opponent who was a complete unknown before arriving in WWE. Let’s also not forget Sheamus is still buddy buddy with HHH who is gaining more power by the day. I’m not saying Sheamus isn’t worthy of his position, but it certainly doesn’t help Bryan’s case. Plus, I have the feeling WWE thinks Sheamus will be cheered again if put up against a true heel like Alberto Del Rio who seems like the next likely challenger. Bottom line is Sheamus wins and we’ll be hearing more “No No No†than “YES YES YESâ€.
Falls Count Anywhere Match:
-Randy Orton vs. Kane
What I want to see: I really want this feud to end. Hell, I never wanted it to begin.
What will happen: Don’t care. Orton wins
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match:
-Big Show (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
What I want to see: Another miscarriage of justice from WrestleMania that needs to be fixed. Cody should have never lost the title to Botch Show, but WWE booked themselves into a corner and had to have the belt swap hands. However, they have a golden opportunity to right the wrong and get Cody back on track and Big Show hopefully relegated to comedy sketches or tag matches or maybe stacking crates at Walmart (not much he could botch there. Then again this is Big Show were talking about). I don’t care as long as its meaningless work, I’m all for it. Maybe he can go back to his monster truck driving career.
What will happen: I have a feeling they’ll do the smart thing here and put the belt back on Cody. Show doesn’t need the title and unless their going to move Cody up to the main event there’s really nothing else for him to do so Cody wins.
WWE Diva’s Title Match:
-Nikki Bella (c) vs. Beth Phoenix
What I want to see: Anybody not named “Bella†holding that title. Hopefully Beth regains the belt and feuds w/Kharma
What will happen: Beth wins
Pre-show match to air live on YouTube:
WWE United States Championship Match:
-Santino Marella (c) vs. The Miz
What I want to see: The U.S. title on someone who’s not a comedy character. Miz is a good choice, but boy has he fallen far out of favor. I don’t think I can remember someone who rose up as far as he did only to plummet back down to where he started in such a short period of time. Miz headlined WrestleMania just last year and WON. Since that point he’s slipped from the main event and back onto Superstars and a PPV pre-show. I really want Miz to win here and get his career back on track. The guy is too good to be swimming with the bottom feeders like Marella.
What will happen: WWE is as high on Santino as they are down on Miz. Why these things happen no one really knows, but it does speak to the notion that everyone is being moved around due to the whims of a madman (Vince) who is moodier than a room full of pregnant sixteen year olds. Oh, uhhh Santino retains, obviously.
