I’ve always been a huge fan of ‘The Shining’, be it Stanely Kubrick’s 1980 adaptation of Stephen King’s classic novel, the 90’s ABC mini series, or even the novel itself. I’ve always enjoyed every aspect of The Shining, I really want to read the sequel novel that came out not too long ago entitled Doctor Sleep, which is about the adult Danny from The Shining and what he is doing now.
Anyway, I’ve always known that Stephen King hated the Kubrick version of The Shining, and honestly it is extremely different to the novel as well. I’ve seen a lot of Stephen King novels turned into films or mini series and I have to say there are few that have actually been good. And reading what King says about Kubrick’s Shining, I’ll have to agree, especially about Wendy Torrence and how it was portrayed by Shelly Duvall.
