Melissa mentioned to me about an hour ago that Pepsi has decided to bring back their early 90’s failure of a product Crystal Pepsi. My first though was that it will make a lot of money now.
Why would I say that? Well, back in the early 90’s, I want to say 1992, the world was just too close to Coca Cola’s 80’s failure of Coke II, and didn’t want to see something as “different” as a clear cola. Also, Crystal Pepsi didn’t taste like a cola but something similar to Sprite.
Now, with the way society is, with social media and today’s youth gravitate to these gimmicky concepts I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised that Crystal Pepsi is a bigger smash now than it bombed in the earlier 1990’s.
I’ll report back after the debut in the US on August 8 has subsided and let you all know if it is a bigger deal now than it was over 20 years ago.
Now if only Pepsi would use the Van Halen song ‘Right Now’ when it advertises Crystal Pepsi…
If you don’t know what I’m talking about:
