Yet another one from Moviehole.net, and I have yet to see this one anywhere else. Its about how Summer Glau (from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Firefly, Serenity) could in fact be brought in as a character in the Joss Whedon created (who also created Firefly along with Buffy and Angel) Dollhouse. She would be a perfect fit and I hope that they get on this real fast.
Moviehole.net has the report:
Terminator breaks into Dollhouse?
Author: Clint Morris Date: Wednesday, May 27th, 2009 Time: 10:51 pm

‘’Terminator : The Sarah Connor Chronicles’’ may be gone (if unfairly so; the show’s better than ‘’Terminator Salvation’’ for Christ’s sake!) but it’s not all bad news for star Summer Glau.
The former small-screen cyborg has – not surprisingly – been asked to star on her old pal (he directed her in the TV series “Firefly” and it’s terrific spin-off film “Serenity”) Joss Whedon’s series “Dollhouse”.
“If anybody thinks [bringing Summer onto Dollhouse] hasn’t occurred to me already then they have not met me,” Whedon tells Michael Ausiello. “I mentioned it to her before [SCC] was canceled. I was like, ‘You know, we should get you in the ‘house.’ But first we have to come up with something that works.” And casting her as a doll would not work, insists Whedon. “Summer would be perfect to play an active, but she’s done that [type of role] a lot,” he says.
“I’d rather see her play someone who talks too much. The most fun I have is when I get somebody who’s good and comfortable at doing something, and then I make them do something else. Summer said to me, ‘I would like to play a normal girl before I die of extreme old age.’”
Whedon and Glau are also said to be developing a ballet film (she’s a former dancer) together.

I was just looking at some websites, nothing is ever updated on the weekends and I realized it has been a while since I had looked on Moviehole.net and decided to check to see what they have. Every now and then they have something that the other rumor sites don’t have. They mentioned that a new Naked Gun movie was going to go direct to home video, not using Leslie Nelson, but a new person, and I don’t remember if I posted that, but I it intrigued me that they would have something that the other sites didn’t grab ahold of. They have a lot of the things the other ones do have, but then there is this, a Die Hard prequel.
The link scared me at first, I was like “OH NO!” what are they doing? And then I kept reading and found that it was a comic book. Now, I have no problem with this idea, it actually sounds really good, and if I remember to look it up around the time that it comes out, I’ll probably pick it up to give it a read.
If you continue through the article, it also has a mention of a possible TV series that would take place 12 months before what happens in the first movie. I honestly always felt that 24 was a Die Hard ripoff seeing that John McClaine had been taking terrorists out for a far longer period of time then the main character in 24. But to be fair to 24, I’ve never really watched the series. But summer is coming up and we do tend to get whole seasons worth of shows during the TV series-less summer season.
Here is the article from Moviehole.net:
Author: Clint Morris Date: Friday, May 29th, 2009 Time: 1:02 am

John McClane is returning…. he’ll just be a little more animated than usual (if that’s possible).
Twentieth Century Fox is rewinding the clock on the “Die Hard” series inking a deal with BOOM to release a prequel comic. The first issue hits stands in August.
Here’s the synopsis for “Die Hard : Year One”, courtesy Comics Continuum :
“Every great action hero got started somewhere: Batman Began. Bond had his Casino Royale. And for John McClane, more than a decade before the first DIE HARD movie, he’s just another rookie cop, an East Coast guy working on earning his badge in New York City during 1976’s Bicentennial celebration. Too bad for John McClane, nothing’s ever that easy.”
Sounds good. And I really like the idea. I’m not a big comics-fan (I know, I know… what am I doing running a geek portal?!), but this is one I’d probably pick up… or plead the distributor to send me a review copy of (probably more the case; cheapskate I am).
Funnily enough, I recently spoke to a writer whose been pitching Fox a “Die Hard” TV series – one which, like the comic, fixes on McClane pre-Nakatomi Plaza. But instead of traveling back as far as 1976, it’s actually set the twelve months before the events of the first film.
I’ve read some outlines for what would be the first season, and browsed the character breakdowns, and it’s actually quite cool. I’d watch the show. All they’d need is a great young McClane (if Benjamin McKenzie weren’t busy with “Southland” he’d be terrific; and we know he looks good in a wife-beater).
Still, I don’t know where the TV series (which I believe was titled ‘McClane’ at one stage) is at, or whether or not it’s even been picked up, just saying it’s a nifty idea. Maybe the comic will help push it along? Wouldn’t surprise me if it pops up on Fox’s radar in the near future… if it hasn’t already.

I just finished writing (I may not have much to show for it, but I actually went from page one–which I have been stuck at for about a month now and I wrote to page seven. Not that much I know, but its a lot seeing how I had both Smackdown! and Star Wars Episode One playing for the last five hours…and I’m not even done watching Episode One yet…I paused it for at least an hour to write…) and I decided to jump on here to see if anything was going on and I went on Wrestlezone.com and I saw that WWE has released Mr. Kennedy.

This is shocking, there was a time that he was being built up to be the future of the company, but within the last two years he has been so injury prone that he has spent more time out of the ring than he has in the ring. In fact, the last time I actually cared about him was when he won the Money in the Bank Ladder match at Wrestlemania 23, which he never had a chance to cash in because he got injured.
I cheered for him when he came out at the 2008 Royal Rumbel. He was the man! Its honestly a damn shame that he was so injury prone. In fact, in his comeback match on Monday, he got injured again.
TNA will probably pick him up and use him. I’m sure of it.
Anyway, here is his Titan Tron (entrance video) in remembrance of Mr. Kennedy in the WWE:
By the way, his entrance song in the above video was far superior to the crap one that he started coming out to (I’ll post the other one below and you compare and tell me), it was the same song but it just didn’t have the edge that the one above had. Just my opinion.
The dog is asleep and that is where I’m on my way too.

Look! The best of both worlds when looking at the last two posts I just put up on the blog. The first was an Alien Reboot the next was about a video game not being made into a movie and now a video game movie being rebooted.
Everything is being freaking REBOOTED! Come up with something original! And if you can’t, call me, I have a lot of freaking ideas!
From Darkhorizons.com:
Dan Lin Talks “Tomb Raider” Reboot
By Garth Franklin Wednesday May 27th 2009 01:12AM
At this week’s premiere of “Terminator Salvation”, Producer Dan Lin talked briefly about the upcoming reboot of the “Tomb Raider” film franchise to About.com
“It’s a great origin story that we’re going to tell. A very character-oriented story. I would say more realistic than the past Lara Croft movies…I would say it’s like Terminator – character-driven action. I think for me the Lara Croft games and movies have gone a little too action-oriented. I wanted to have action, but with character” says Lin.
In other words the film is going back to the beginning with a more grounded and emotional tone ala “Batman Begins” or “Casino Royale” in order to try and re-establish the brand. At last rumor Megan Fox was up for the role of Lara Croft.

I’m in a question mark mood recently with my post titles…
Add the Castlevania movie to the long list of video games not being made into movies along with Metroid, Halo, Gears of War and I’ll even attach Bioshock to that list too seeing that it had to go back to the drawing board because it would cost too much to make.

“Castlevania” Film Adaptation Scrapped
By Garth Franklin Wednesday May 27th 2009 01:21AM
The long-gestating film adaptation of the “Castlevania” video game is not happening says Bloody Disgusting.
Paul W.S. Anderson and Ian Jeffers were writing the adaptation that originally had Sylvain White attached to direct.
While the film had been out to other directors in recent months, the project has now officially been shelved for now.

Consider this yet another one that MAY be added to the long list of movies being remade or as the industry is labeling them “rebooted”. The hot rumor of the day that because of the sucess of Star Trek, which “rebooted” the franchise and how Predator is getting remade (by Robert Rodriguez–which, by the way, I have no problem with at all. At least its in good hands) and also, Cliffhanger may be getting remade too, this is just another one added to the list. I’m not sure if I like this, why can’t they just give us a good sequel or something? Seriously. Do the people behind the reboots think that just by starting all over again people will forget about the bad sequels? I mean, if they haven’t perfected a sequel, how do they expect to make a good reboot? Just because it worked with some other movies doesn’t mean that it’ll work for others.
This one is from Darkhorizons.com:
Rinsch Helming An “Alien” Reboot?
By Garth Franklin Thursday May 28th 2009 11:25AM
Music video director Carl Erik Rinsch is rumored to be helming a potential and totally unnecessary reboot/prequel to the “Alien” franchise for 20th Century Fox reports Bloody Disgusting.
Story details are unknown but sources say the idea is to return to the formula of the first film (one alien, one ship) and the film could be a non-Ripley involved film set before the events on the Nostromo in Ridley Scott’s 1979 “Alien” to avoid both continuity problems and the scorn of the franchise’s fans who’d be very vocally disapproving of a straight up remake.
Sources also claim that Michael Costigan, Ridley Scott and Tony Scott are all on board to produce. At last report back in April, Scott was said to be “toying around with the idea” of another “Alien” film.
Fox’s planned reboot of the “Predator” film franchise with Robert Rodriguez announced the other month, combined with the successful relaunch of the “Star Trek” film franchise which also kicked off with its first film in 1979, has understandably led credibility to such a rumor.
None of the principals or the studio has commented on the story yet so take it as rumor for now.

While relaxing after a long day of nothing but sleeping and eating and pooing, Peanut Chew decided to make do his impression of Jabba the Hutt.

For the comparison, check out this pic from Return of the Jedi:

Only thing Peanut seems to be missing is a half naked Carrie Fisher and strange aliens whispering in his ear…

This would have completely slipped by me if it were not for one of my favorite podcasts (Geek Out Loud) devoting an entire special episode to the beginning of the saga with Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace. I think that I’ve been really hard on this movie for (now) ten years, and its still, at least to me, a let down; but after hearing them do commentary (in their special way–I’m a fan of the two of them who were in this episode because they are the same two guys that do the Skynext podcast for The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and I’ve been worried that I won’t be hearing them anymore because of the cancellation of the show, but this is the next best thing).

It was a really great two hours plus that they were literally dong their own commentary for the movie and putting in their own two cents about different aspects of the movie and even using the “Run!” line that they used throughout the Skynext podcast. I would highly recommend it. It took me a couple of days to post this because I only get a chance to listen too and from work and sometimes to the gas station or super market or random places around here, so something that is over two hours might take me a couple of rides.
I don’t know if I’d change my views on the movie, but I will definately watch it real soon (and probably laugh my ass off at some of the things I’ll see this time around) and remember back to my Junior year of High School when it first came out. Check out the podcast here at Geek Out Loud: Phantom Menace. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
It wouldn’t feel right for me to post a review (if you could even call it that) knowing that I haven’t seen Episode One in a couple of years and I think I might try and do that and give it a fair shot. I don’t think I’ve seen it since probably around the time that Episode Three came out and that was a few years ago.

Listening to Derek and Steve made me long for more commentary for the other five Episodes of the series and made me think about how I’ve honestly always wanted to read some of the Extended Universe stories but just always felt that I was too far behind at this point to ever be able to catch up. I’d love to read about the further adventures and continued adventures and explanations for a lot of different characters old and new, but I just don’t know if I’d really be able to get into them knowing how much more I’ve missed. But who knows, maybe I’ll pick up one of the books at some point in time in the future.
Great listen, so enjoy.

Melissa and I with Cassie went with my parents yesterday to Alba Vineyard to go wine tasting. Cassie didn’t get to try any of the wine, but she loved the car ride and wandering around the property.

I heard one of my parents say, as I was taking this pic, “this one is going to be called ‘Cassie at the Vineyard’”
