The Razzies

For over two decades now the Golden Razzie Award has been nominated the day of Academy Awards and the winners of this wonderful award are given the day before the Academy Award. If you don’t know, as if you’ve been living under a rock and just don’t care, The Golden Raspberry Award Foundation has announced its nominees for The 26th Annual Razzies, which celebrates the Worst Achievements in Film Many movies have been nominated, and I’ll post a link to the Worst Films winners that I found from IMDB.com in a little bit.

But this year Dukes of Hazzard and Son of the Mask lead the pack, here it is from IMDB.com:

‘Hazzard’ and ‘Mask’ Lead Razzie Nominations

The Dukes Of Hazzard and Son Of The Mask are leading the nominations at this year’s Razzies, which celebrates the worst films of 2005. The Golden Raspberry Award Foundation’s 26th annual Razzie winners are traditionally announced the night before the Oscars, on March 3, at the Ivar Theatre in Hollywood, California. Funnyman Jamie Kennedy’s turn in the sequel to the Jim Carrey 1994 hit movie has picked up eight nominations, including Worst Director for Lawrence Guterman, Worst Actor for Kennedy and Worst Picture. Following close behind is remake The Dukes Of Hazzard, with Jessica Simpson up for Worst Supporting Actress and Worst Screen Couple for her ‘Daisy Dukes’ hotpants. Other nominated films include Jenny McCarthy’s Dirty Love with six nods; and Bewitched and Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo with five each. Paris Hilton’s big screen debut in House Of Wax has also been nominated for Worst Supporting Actress. Meanwhile, last year’s most high-profile couple, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, are up for Worst Actor and Worst Supporting Actress respectively. Cruise has been nominated twice in a new category, entitled Most Tiresome Tabloid Targets, for his public displays of affection with Holmes and his war on psychiatry.

Comingsoon.net has this article up:

Among the most dis-honored titles nominated for The 26th Annual RAZZIES are: “The Dukes of Hazzard,” which took the Hollywood habit of exhuming old TV series to new lows in lowbrow entertainment; “Son of the Mask,” an 11-years-later sequel sans the star of the original film (or any of its charm); “House of Wax,” a horror remake whose most horrifying element was the “dramatic debut” of hotel heiress (and Worst Supporting Actress nominee) Paris Hilton; “Dirty Love,” a vanity project written by and starring a Playboy Playmate, with a total box office take of barely $58,000; and “Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo,” a “comedy” sequel that no one but its star and producers seemed to find funny. Each of these five is a Worst Picture nominee and, in a RAZZIE first which points out Hollywood’s total creative bankruptcy in 2005, four of them are also Worst Remake or Sequel nominees. The fifth contender for Worst Remake is the five-times-nominated “Bewitched,” yet another old TV show “re-imagined” (and ruined) on its way to the big screen. Worst Actor contenders include Will Ferrell for both “Bewitched” and “Kicking & Screaming,” Jamie Kennedy in “Son of the Mask,” Rob Schneider in the title role of “Deuce Bigalow 2,” The Rock in the video-game-to-movie adaptation “Doom” and box office behemoth Tom Cruise for “War of the Worlds”. Vying for dis-stink-tion as Worst Actress are vacuous vava-voom girl Jessica Alba in both “Fantastic Four” and “Into the Blue,” talent-challenged teen idol Hilary Duff in “Cheaper by the Dozen 2” and “The Perfect Man,” Jenny McCarthy for Worst Picture nominee “Dirty Love,” Tara Reid as a “genius anthropologist”(!) in “Alone in the Dark” and RAZZIE Repeat Offender Jennifer Lopez as a beleaguered bride-to-be in “Monster in Law”.

Nominees were determined by mailing ballots to more than 725 film professionals, film journalists and film fans from 41 U.S. states and 15 foreign countries. Often called Tinsel Town’s tackiest Trophy, the Razzie Award itself is an intentionally cheapjack tchotchke featuring a golf-ball-sized, handcrafted Razzberry atop a mangled Super 8 film reel that’s spray-painted gold and has an estimated street value of $4.97.

The Razzies were created in 1980 by John Wilson, author of “The Official Razzie® Movie Guide”. This year’s Razzie ceremonies will be held the now-traditional 24 hours before the Oscars 7:30pm PST, Saturday, March 4 at the historic Ivar Theatre in Hollywood.

haha. I do however want to see Mission:Impossible III and I still want to see War of the Worlds

His movies aren’t bad, its his pshychotic actions outside of the films that people really hate him for.

Yeah, true. He seems pretty cool in movies, I like a lot of his stuff…including Minority Report, which is the only one I can seem to remember off the top of my head.

He’s great until he opens his mouth without a script.

some places charge 11! seriously what is the world coming too? And they wonder why no one goes to see movies anymore

  4. flammable says:

Yeah, exactly…for that price, you could almost buy it on DVD as soon as it comes out…then watch it over and over again, in your home theater with surround sound and actual bottomless popcorn bucket.

I’ve recently seen a whole bunch of movies that I missed this past summer. I bought Wedding Crashers, War of the Worlds and The Island all for 25 bucks (previously used at Blockbuster, which is where I usually buy a whole bunch of dvds real cheap and usually in really good quality). I also saw The 40 Year Old Virgin, which I was completely against going to see in the theater as well as renting or even buying, simply because I felt that they stole my idea for Ethan Ross, which is a 22 year old virgin. But I saw it because one of Melissa’s co-workers let her borrow it. So, its all good. I really enjoyed it and now I may purchase it, from Blockbuster.

Oh man, saw 40 Year Old Virgin too…and, well…it was alright. I dunno, I didn’t find it as funny as some people did, though I think Steve Carrell is pretty awesome.

Did you like Wedding Crashers, War of the Worlds and The Island? I heard the first two were great, and the third looked pretty good in the trailers but didn’t do as well as they hoped it would, I think.

I liked wedding crashers but i wasn’t as crazy about it as i thought that many people were, it was funny but not as great as I thought it would have ended up being.

Everyone hated War of the Worlds but I loved it, it was everything I had wanted it to be.

The Island was great! I loved it, I think it was a great action movie.

  8. flammable says:

i…have…that…gah, it’s on the list, too.

i’m so damn proud of myself, i actually watched “walk the line”, but it was by accident.

  9. flammable says:

well, i ripped it to the computer…then opened the movie file to make sure it worked.

and, well, it got interesting, so i didn’t close it. i sat there for a couple hours, till the movie was over and my whole room was dark. was kinda strange.

Ohh, I get it. Yeah, I’ve done that too. Like last summer I called out of work for like two days to work on some papers that were do for my summer class (thank god I don’t have any classes now, that would just drive me insane) and I worked on it till lunch and sat down to eat and started watching “Girl Next Door” never had any interest in watching this movie. I thought the girl was annoying. Its about a high school kid about to graduate from college, and the neighbor’s girl comes home and they kind of hit it off and then he finds out she used to be a porn star. The Girl, played by 24’s Elisha Cuthbert, is hot in this movie…hell, she’s hot in general. Look her up. Anyway, getting back to things, this was a movie I accidentally saw, I watched the whole damn thing and then I realized it was like 2:30 and I was like, “holy shit!” and went back to writing again.

  11. flammable says:

Hey, I saw that movie last summer too! Was flipping through the channels (at my grandma’s house, we got HBO through some sort of deal) and my brother landed on that one…we watched it for a while, was kinda interesting. Elisha Cuthbert is very, very hot.

  12. socramforever says:

yeah, hopefully she continues to make movies…I mean good movies…that would be very appreciated…both her making movies and good movies…

  13. flammable says:

Yes, yes…though I’d like to see her in a good movie, I’d settle for her appearance in a bad one, too.

  14. socramforever says:

she was in House of Wax which also starred Paris Hilton…

    …I didn’t see it though. I refused.

  15. flammable says:

Okay, that said, maybe I’ll take my words back. I won’t see a bad movie, even for Elisha Cuthbert. Especially if it means enduring Paris Hilton.

  16. flammable says:

    Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  17. socramforever says:

from when? when I first sent it to you, when you sent this to me, or from right now…wait…its already been 60 seconds somewhere in the world…this is how gremilns are made isn’t it?
