Pirate director to helm animated feature

Ok, so this one is a pretty preliminary post to something that will probably get more legs as the year progresses. But Gore Verbinski, the director of Pirates (like posted in the entry below–or above depending on if you are viewing this as an archive entry or not–is the director of one of my favorite series to come out in a while.

Gore Verbinski (“Pirates of the Caribbean,” “The Ring”) will direct his first animated feature for a 2012 release says the trades.

The $100 million action-adventure film is based on an undisclosed idea developed by Verbinski’s Blind Wink Prodictions. Screenwriter John Logan (“Sweeney Todd”) is in talks to pen the film with future sequels in mind.

Filmmaker Graham King is producing and financing the untitled film’s development. Warner Bros. has a first-look deal with King and could come on board the project after the script is completed.

Didn’t tell us anything, but the price is pretty high and its going to be released in 2012, so there is some time before this happens.
