A-Team Casting?

Anything that involves The A-Team will always get my interest, a film version of this movie has bounced around for a long long time. And now, it may actually get made, with Liam Nesson playing Hannibal! That is exciting…

Cooper, Neeson In Talks For "A-Team"Bradley Cooper (“The Hangover”) is in talks to play Lt. Templeton ‘Faceman’ Peck and Liam Neeson is in negotiations to play John ‘Hannibal’ Smith in the Joe Carnahan-directed “The A-Team” film says the trades.

First rumored several weeks ago for the ‘Faceman’ role, Cooper seem to let slip to IESB at the press junket for “The Hangover” last month that he was up for the part before beating a hasty retreat a few days later saying the quote was taken out of context and denying his involvement.

Today The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the original report was accurate after all while a few hours later Variety reported on the Neeson scoopage.

Ridley Scott, Jules Daly and series creator Stephen J. Cannell are producing. Carnahan and Brian Bloom polished a script by Skip Woods.

The story keeps the premise of the classic 80’s series but will take a more serious tone with the story of four war vets wrongly convicted of armed robbery escape from a military prison to become mercenaries helping the impoverished.

20th Century Fox is planning a late August production start for the June 11th 2010 release.

Also, I would like to point out that I like the director, he seems to have an eye on action. Joe Carnahan directed, most recently, Smokin’ Aces and that was a great movie. At least in my opinion.

I looked it up, about a year ago, when there was John Singleton (2 Fast 2 Furious) was directing, I believe they had Tyrese Gibson peg to play B.A. Baracus. Now, IMDB has rapper Common (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0996669/) RUMORED to be playing the part. I always saw someone bigger, like a Michael Clarke Dunkan or Ving Rhames, to play the part. I’ll wait until I see a trailer before I start complaining though…

I’m with you there – either of those actors could do B.A. Baracus (and here I thought there wasn’t anyone that could). Guess I’ll reserve judgement until the trailer, though.
