I remember hearing about this a long time ago, there were conflicting reports that Sam Rami (Spiderman 1-2 and 3) wanted to remake his “Evil Dead” movies, as well as make a forth entry (Evil Dead series included: Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness). It is rare to see a director want to see his creation remade, some don’t care, as the case is with Rami, or John Carpenter, who is fine with getting a check cut and some help out on the remake, as I guess Rami is doing as well as people like Wes Craven.
Anyway, here is another one from Dark Horizons:
Raimi Still Keen To Reboot “Evil Dead”
By Garth Franklin Tuesday January 25th 2011 04:58AMSam Raimi’s long-time producing partner Rob Tapert tells Freep.com that the long-gestating “Evil Dead” remake is still alive and Sam Raimi is still interested.
“It’s possible; we’re looking at a script this month. What’s interesting about ‘Evil Dead’ is very few people saw it in the format we made it for, which is for the theater. … I think Sam wants to embrace the ultimate experience in gruelling terror and see it remade for a proper theatrical experience” says Tapert
STYD adds that numerous writers and directors have taken meetings for the “Evil Dead” remake with Ghost House Pictures over the years.
